"Old Knives"

Adolphus Cutlery Co. was a mark owned by A. J. Jordan who imported knives from England and Germany, and sold them in St. Louis. My reference books say 1882-1890s.

The Alexander Jackson Jordan (A.J.) company owned many different brand names, including AAA1, Old Faithful, 20th Century, and Adolphus Cutlery. A large amount of his business was in selling knives to Native American tribes, especially Blackfeet and Crow. They operated from 1871-1929.

This knife also gave me the greatest moment in my time as a pocket knife enthusiast. Some of you who know me in other communities have heard this, so I apologize for the repeat, but it still makes my smile.

My wife and I drove from Florida to Georgia for 4th of July weekend last year. We stopped for Popeyes on the way. Wife got side of Mac’n’cheese. They forgot her fork which she didn’t realize until we were miles away. But what did Dad have in his pocket? A moment I’d waited years for had finally arrived.

“Can I use your fork?”

I could have died right there.
Thank you Rookie! This is great information. Appreciate your effort.

Victor bread/cake knife. No idea of age. It appears to be a copy of the Christy bread knife pat’d 1889/1891.View attachment 2158955
Fits the skeleton handles you collect, Alan!! Nice!!

Interesting advertising knife here; It has a complex corkscrew, a bowl-scraper with a tack lifter, a Wharncliffe type blade, and the knife is a tack hammer also, to close your cigar boxes!! The tang stamp is "LION" with a reclining lion underlying the name - (hard to get a scan of it).
