Beautiful to say the least. there's something about a bone handle knife Just makes it all that more mysterious. Sorry for posting my pictures it seems I posted them in the wrong area I will fixit in a few gotta go eat , "Wife is throwing stuff at me to get my attention, I'd better go while they are still paper products flying at me !!

Here's one I just picked up...a Providence Cutlery Germany, dates 1890-1915. Solid knife, except a piece of the cover is broken on the pile side. How rare are these? Thinking I should leave it as is? Any idea what material it is?

Glenn, sorry I can't help in regards to how rare but are they smooth white bone covers? I do know one thing for sure if YOU decide to recover it, it will certainly come out nice!!! It's a great knife...

They are smooth, almost like ivory, but I don't know...

Nice knife. I've heard of the company before, not sure how rare though...I can get back to you on that.
If it were me, I'd attempt to do a patchwork on it.

As I first got into knives ans slip joints specifically - i had once posted a thread on here asking if anyone knew of any old knife manufactures in my hometown of philadelphia - there wasn't much info given and there actually weren't that many knives produced here. But thankfully to some of the responses I got from that thread, I learned about a few companies who made knives here in Philadelphia. Of the few companies, there was one whom I really, really hoped to find a knife from. The only problem is the knives are extremely rare, according to Levine's they were made in only one year (1876). After typing the name into google at least once every few days over the past few years hoping something would come up, I finally came across one, and I had to win my first e-bay auction to get it no less! That was terrifying, I thought my only opportunity may pass me by. Without further adieu:

the spring is in such good condition I have a hard time believing its real!!

If anybody happens to know the whereabouts of another knife by this company. PLEASE LET ME KNOW

Western Boulder 6490 - Circa 1950's Utility knife. A little blade rub here and there, nice to find a nice Western Boulder knife. A 6490 pattern is tough to find with the shield. They made these for the military, and the pattern dates back to the early 20's when Western States made an official Boy Scout utility knife.
