Robeson made a nice slim, rounded, pocket-friendly Barlow, Todd! Love those babies!
That 3-blade Imperial utility knife is a rare bird, in my experience. Nice ones; thanks for the show!!
 
Here are some nice examples of rooster nutters. The 3 small ones are
2 9/16" long and are stamped(top to bottom) Hibbard, Spencer, and Bartlett
Jack Knife Ben, and Challenge Cutlery Co. The bottom knife is 3.5" long and stamped Kutmaster.

My second "old" knife a J.A. Henckels locking sodbuster. I didn't know Henckels made a sodbuster, but when I saw this knife I just had to have it, can't explain why. It's a big boy too at 4.5" closed.

There's one of those Imperial utility knives sitting in a local junk shop with a price of $24 on it. I'm tempted, but it seems a bit high, and I'm not sure I want it enough to pay the price.

Interesting to see a bone handled Imperial, though. I've got a few of the cheaper shell knives.

I paid more than that for mine.

The one in my photo was made as part of a US Navy contract during WWII.Or shortly after,no real way to tell.But its constuction fits the contract requirements.
 
Here's a couple more of my oldies. Very worn joints on the pen, but the bone and size and blades were just too neat to pass up. I reshaped the broken pen blade on the jackknife to a modified sheepsfoot, and carry it often.

I'm bidding on one of my favorite oldies of all time tomorrow (if some of you remember my disappointment from missing a certain bose knife at the blade drawing, you know which one I'm talking about). Wish me luck. Hope to be posting it soon.
 
Those slant bolsters are great! I watched them being made the old way, at the Queen factory in Titusville, PA. They put a short slug of nickel silver on a die, and a punch press comes down and "cold forges" them in one powerful stamping! Puts the thread line in, and extrudes a "tommy pin" at the back, which is used to "chop" (cutler's lingo) or rivet them onto the liners. All at once!
 
I didn't have any Empire's so I picked this one up on Tuesday. It is hard to see in the picture but the blade is etched Standard Electric Co. Cincinnati Oh. Handles are Walnut. - Dan
