Thank you Duncan - I feel the same about your Case Reds - and I mean your Case Reds. I know you told me there was no need for thanks, but, I have to thank you so much for letting me keep the knives. I need them and you don't. :D

Thank you Rachel - I have posted that ole Barlow in the past, but, it has been a while. Just because you asked:

Sigh...

Got this old Boker Jack in, 1930-1950 best I can tell. The bone is close-but-not-quite to another Boker I have had a while.

that is what I did when I first saw it Rachel. I suppose it captivated both of us. I have had it a long time - thanks for reminding me. :D

Beautiful bone on both those old Bokers - great old knives!!:)

Keen Kutter, bone handled model 899, 4 bladed Scout knife, 3 & 3/4 inches closed:

I liked the bone and blade patina on this old knife when I first saw it . . .

and thought I could fix the tip damage to the main blade.

Using hand tools, I re-worked the main blade and swedge.
I also re-pointed the ends of the can-opener blade and the punch blade.
A bit more cleaning and light rubbing and I got to where I liked her.
This reveals the knife as finished and hopefully ready for more years of use:

The ole knife blades snap closed like a large gator's mouth.

The last photo is a beauty shot - at least for me.
All closed up and ready for duty.

Duncan, I used the photo of YOUR red bone knives for my desktop. I think Primble should return them to you ASAP! and you are a gentleman for lending them to him. :D

And Primble, sir I am still missing a few red bones that I sent to you for cleaning. If you would be so kind as to return them it would be greatly appreciated. ;)

Thank you guys for the nice comments! Yes - I was happy with the results of my labor - and I had always wanted a nice bone Keen Kutter with that cool Axe-head shield.

Mark, sir I will kindly return them in the box you send me containing the "Hatch knife" and the long pull Charlow you promised to send me. So the sooner I get the box, the sooner your red bones will arrive. I am just a bit short on my supply of boxes right now - so just mail mine and then keep watching your mailbox mate! :)

As soon as I get the Hatch knife cleaned up I will send them both to you sir. Keep checking your mailbox. :)

haha...good reading Gentleman

Primble Sir, your photography is just beautiful, you indeed have some of the finest Case Red Bone knives I have seen - thank you for sharing them with us all, I love the job you did on that Keen Kutter - a Splendid job! I recently Bought a Red Bone Grand-Daddy Barlow that had to be re-tipped, I have shaped it, but havent yet sharpened it.
This one does have patina and scratch marks - but because of the re-tipping I may clean it - what say you Sir - I dont usually clean my knives...but...?

This an old Elk Cutlery knife that was made by Premier Cutlery and distributed out of Toronto Canada. The pen or secondary blade is broken but I like the fancy bolsters and the old jigged bone.

I need to lightly clean it and take some "Primble Pictures" with coins and watches and punches. :D

Very unusual knife Mark - I really like the bone and bolster work.

You sir - have other fish to fry!!!! Namely - and this is a hint - what little baby birds and chickens do before they can open their eyes! ;)

Thank you friend - I am glad you took to the ole Keen Kutter as I did. I will be looking forward to seeing that Grand-Daddy Barlow.

It is hard to say without seeing the blades - maybe you can post a few quick shots of the blades as they are now or PM me and I will try to help. I see you said the ole knife does have patina and scratch marks. If I get a new old knife in that has some nice patina, I will go to extra lengths to try and preserve it - but - more often something might need fixin' or there might be "abuse" scratches through the patina, which actually makes the knife look bad. In that case, I will lightly clean the knife with different grades of fine sandpaper and sometimes re-patina with vinegar, oil, and 0000 steel wool. If you will, post up some blade pics or PM me and maybe I can help you decide.

Best regards,
"Primble"

I will do just that kind Sir, I wont be able to take some snaps until later in the weekend, but I will take them before I sharpen the blade and of course before I clean - if I clean, although I have already shaped the blade to remove the evidence the tip had been snapped off.
For the sake of interest I will post them up here Primble my friend, and see what you and maybe some others think - thank you for your time in replying.
Photos upcoming soon :)
