"Old Knives"

Good question Brad, Hopefully someone will have a definitive answer. I'm afraid I don't know myself, and wish my old granny was alive so I could just ring her and ask her. My guess would be it was engraved in a similar way to metal, though possibly with more forgiving tools. I think those old cutlers had been doing this sort of thing so long that they knew all the tricks, and were experts at it.

Nice Ibberson penknife ADEE. Firth Stainless blades dates it to the interwar period.

I like the Remington Jamie.

This stout Joseph Elliot & Sons jack knife is from the early 1900s.

smiling-knife Thanks for the info on the Firth Stainless dating. I have another Ibberson with similar markings. I hope to post a picture of it. Your Joseph Elliot jack is in amazing condition and with full blades. Fabulous. AD.

Wow..... I just cant get over this Thread, and the people who contribute ! Stunning knives.....Jack a awhile ago I missed the opportunity to say real nice M.O.P my friend, then Adee brings out another-Jamie hits us with that lovely Remington - Charles, Brad and S-K just take the show to the Grand Slam Finale! - but Primble doesnt accept this - and comes in with those fantastic Bone covered beauties and brings another bout of talent to the show!!!
