Anybody know anything about this one? Etched on blade instead of tang stamped and different handle.

I also thought this boot knife was unique in having the serrated parts. I've seen their boot knives in a few brochures but had not yet seen it listed as an option.

Hopefully I got this image thing right.

A Ashoka , nice collection Jeremy. Lets see you have some fish knives, critters, brassy's,Mar Keys, 510's, 511's, goldshield, huntsman made in Germany some were assembled here. Mark V ,older trophy line Olsen's, Lee Jr. Newer trophy line stag and wood handle .Nice drop point pewter. It's either a Colt or what I call a olsen custom with the brass butt cap. Nice fur * Long, fur long gave some of these knives away and had the person's name etched on the blade. Boot knives, someone may have had it serrated as these were made for Olsen. And now for the 504N, Olsen made these in the mid to late 70's to try to help cut cost and resemble the older Olsen's. They were just called the sportsman. They just didn't go over very well, hence a limited production . People just really liked the look and feel of the Olsen OK stamp trophy line knives. I hope this helps and answered your questions. Thanks Brian

My Fur*Long one has "Miles G. Furlong" inscribed on the blade.

I forgot to add these....

I found it interesting that none of the hatchets I have or seen online have any Olsen markings on them or the sheathes.

I noticed the bottom of the handle design is different on one of these as it does not have the "tongue". It was definitely made that way and not ground down later. Any idea if that dates it differently?

Also the throwing knives are different as well. One is blackened and has the typical Olsen stamp, the other has it printed on the blade.

A Ashoka there you go some throwing knives and axe's. I haven't seen any of the full length sheaths for the axes with markings but I do have a box of sheaths just for the axe head that are marked Olsen knife company with a banner. I will have to look, I thought my throwing axe was acid etched on the neck. The throwing knives handles were made of micarta and didn't hold up really good and were replaced a lot at the factory. The reason I know this is my uncle was a knife maker for Olsen, he made the Lee Jr's until he died in 1970. My dad worked there for a while and my Aunt worked there until they sold in 1982. I also have other friends who worked there and am friends with Lee Olsen Jr's son Olie. The blackened throwing knife is older and the acid etched one was made later in the 70's. In the later years anything that didn't get stamped was acid etched. Even some of my catalogs show pictures of knives that weren't stamped. Now the fur * long beautiful knife!!!!!!, like I said they did have some name's engraved on the blade. But I have heard there was a person who had some of these knives and was putting name's on them. Hear say no proof but it's out there. I hope this helps. Thanks Brian

A Ashoka My, have you been busy! Great collection! Looks like you got the image thing right. Interesting to see those Olsens together, thanks for posting.

Can you tell me the model and size of a folder in the first picture? Below the three at the top of the pic, on the left in a row of three, clip blade, brass bolster and dark wood handle.

Wow Brian, you have quite the ties to the Olsen brand! That's very cool and makes sense you would know so much about these.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Of course, that is a model 160 from the "Brassy's" series of folders.

And it is:
1-3/4" Blade
2-3/4" Closed
4-1/2" Overall

Hope that helps,
Jeremy

[QUOTE="markings but I do have a box of sheaths just for the axe head that are marked Olsen knife company with a banner.[/QUOTE]

I think I've seen a couple throwing knife sheaths that were like that.

"OLSEN"
KNIFE COMPANY (in a banner below)

I assumed maybe those were older, possibly prior to the creation of the circular design.

I new here. So I just acquired a 12 in new long blank, and I was wondering if you could help me understand how the handles were mounted?
