Olsen OK knives

Here's a really nice look at the pewter series trophy knives!

Not often you'll be likely to see them in the original display case and as a full set!

I would love to be bidding on this set but right now the only way I would be able to get it would be to sell off some of the models from it that I don't like as well and I would not be able to bring myself to break up the set. Hopefully the buyer does not just resale these all split up.

A Ashoka , wow Jeremy. That brought some good money. And they didn't even have the sheaths.

actually, there were actually, there were a couple listing modifications made for this and the proud new owner has both pristine sheaths and boxes for all of these!

***PLEASE NOTE: I have recently located every sheath for the knives in this listing. I have maxed out on the number of photos I can list. If you would like a photo of the sheaths, please contact me.

On Mar-09-19 at 15:23:50 PST, seller added the following information:

***The boxes have been located as well and they and the sheaths are pristine!

Due to this, I actually ended up bidding on this but had to stop at $1,500.

A Ashoka , sorry Jeremy I didn't see that. I already have them . So I didn't revisit the description. In that case it was a really good buy, I always figure $250 to $300 for a pewter in great condition with the sheath and box. Plus they got the display case, big bonus. I'm sorry you didn't get them, that would have made a great addition to your already impressive collection. Brian

Thanks.

Oh well, mixed blessing. I REALLY didn't need to spend the money. Spent close to 2k between 2 different vehicles within the last month, so TRYING to slow down for a bit.

I only re-read the description to see if there was any knowledge info I'd overlooked the first time.

After reading that the sheaths and boxes were now part of it, I HAD to do it due diligence and bid something.

My max bid was under the value but was at MY max "gotta have it at that price", price.

I waited until the last 5 seconds of it to keep me from getting caught up in a bidding war.

Slowly going through and reorganizing my Olsen Trophy knives. Trying to decide if I'd like them better with 1 drawer per series OR cumulatively with them sized small to large. LEE JR., OLSEN, OLSEN OK

It's a good problem to have.

Hi everyone! I've recently acquired an olsen knife after the loss of my mom earlier this year. I've found figuring out and researching her more unusual items to be quite therapeutic in my grieving process.

Anyways, I've got a knife that's got a stamp that's got Olsen UK as well as HC MI on it. The handle has a curved spot for your finger as well as some metal on the end of it. The blade is about 4" and the whole knife is about 9.4". I'm going to attempt to upload a picture as well, any possible insight you might have is much appreciated. :)

R Rachelann84 , sorry for your loss. But if you can upload a picture for me to see, I am pretty sure that I can tell you what the knife is. Thanks Brian

Many of us use imgur. It's free and pretty easy to use. If you're using a pc, upload your image, select the BBCode and paste it into your post.
On Android devices copy the URL, select the image button (the button with the mountain and moon) paste into the popup box and select insert.
Good luck and my condolences.

Brian,

Maybe you can help me.
Somewhere I had seen a listing for a deluxe filet knife.
Is3mZpP.png

Someone had a unique looking Olsen sheath I picked up thinking it must be for that deluxe filet mentioned.

I don't recall seeing a picture of one before. One of my 3 filet knives had this additional brass on it. No tang stamp on it but its identical to the others minus that brass.

Just noticed I didn't have a closeup of the 3 stag handles that are on the table. I might add that pic later on.

Enjoy,

Rachel Ann,

Sorry to hear about your mother.

There are a few different models Olsen made at that general length.
If you don't end up figuring how to post pics, we might be able to figure it out if you can measure the blade depth from the cutting edge to the top as you hold it.

A Ashoka , hello Jeremy. Yes that is the 509 deluxe filet knife and you do have the correct sheath that belongs with it. It's a great knife and hard to find. The sheath is the same one that goes with the 309 pewter trout and fish filet. And also the 609 stag filet knife. The Johnny Morris Sportsman filet knife that Olsen made for him and bass pro shop also had the same sheath but was black. The 609 stag filet knife is extremely rare. I know there has to be more out there somewhere but the only one I have ever seen is in my collection. Thanks for sharing Brian

A Ashoka Jeremy you are accumulating a fantastic collection.

R Rachelann84 , I have been thinking about your knife and the info you gave about it. If it has Olsen OK HC MI on the blade it was made after 1971. If it has metal on the end of the handle, it should be brass. And if the blade is about 4 inches long , it should be a game cutter. So if it does have the brass on the end of the handle, I would guess it is a 502 game cutter custom . This would be my best guess without seeing a picture . I hope this helps. THANKS BRIAN

Hi Itsmebsh: What a great collection of Olsen knives you have. I haven't been a collector but recently acquired a very nice Olsen and I'm curious if you can give me some information on it, ie: model, age, etc). Thanks a bunch.

I'm having some difficulty putting up a photo. Here's a Google photos link:

Great find!
I'd like itsmebsh to confirm but I believe you have a very fine example of the #503 Alaskan Skinner!

Check the blade length and overall length to verify.

Warning! These Olsens are like Pringles. You can't have just one!

Thanks a bunch Ashoka. It measures up just like those in the link you sent. I notice though that the finger guard on mine is much straighter than those shown in your photo. Did they build them differently over time? Any idea when mine was built? Thanks again,

S Snowcatt A Ashoka , thanks for the question. It looks to be just what Jeremy says it is . You have a great #503 Alaskan Skinner. The only difference between the model 504 and the 503 is the depth or girth of the blade. The 503 is wider from the top of the blade to the cutting-edge than the 504 Kodiak. The knife was made between 1971 and 1982. And the finger guards did vary in looks. Thanks glad we could help, thumbs up to Ashoka

Thanks a bunch Itsmebsh and Ashoka. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. And, regarding Ashoka's reference to Pringles I'm afraid he's right; I really like this knife.

Want a piece of candy little boy....First piece is free. ;)

Thanks again,

Thanks again,
2-3 years ago I got my first Olsen. You can see from earlier in the thread that I should now be attending Olsen AA meetings....

Brian,

I might have enquired to this previously but could not locate it and I'm sure others would benefit.
Can you help with the date ranges of these knives?

Some of these dates were figured from brochures, others I'm not sure where I got them.
