Unlike yesterday, picked the "wrong" word on the 3rd try. My choice was between 2 farily obscure words and I picked the more common one today which, of course, was incorrect. :(

Yesterday, the choice was between SPOUT and SNOUT. Unlike today, I decided to pick the more obsucre word, which was correct. :)

Hard to tell which way to go on any particular occasion but, based on yesterday and today, it seems like the better choice is to pick the more obscure word 1st.

Why not SCOUT?

Why not SCOUT?

Didn't occur to me initially but I probably would have gotten around to it if the 1st 2 didn't work; fortunately one of them did. :)

IDK how you do it but I usually just go w/my gut for the 1st 2 guesses. If I try to analyze and lay out ALL of the possible options, it just becomes too overwhelming because, if you do that, then where do you start? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Either you guess "right" or "wrong" which (again) is why this game isn't entirely about "skill" and, of course, there have been those times when I just tried everything I could think of and then just failed. :(

When I only have one or two letters I try to find out where they are. And I will sometimes make guesses which have common combinations, like RE to start or ED to end, etc.

When I don't get many letters in my first two turns I try to make words using as many letters as I can so I can concentrate on what's left.

Well, I guess I wasn't the only person to have trouble w/this one.

The 3rd try revealed a key letter along w/3 others but none of the letters were in the "right" position. So had to try again and finally put a couple letters where they belonged which led to the solution.

Bogey 5 broke my streak of 13 Birdie/Pars in a row. :(

About the same duration as the prior Birdie/Par streak, which is fine as long as I continue to score more Birdies than Bogies.

Both TROPE and TROVE are pretty obscure words and I chose TROVE which I thought was the more common/likely one but, of course, that was "wrong." Another tough word but coulda made a Birdie. It was a 50/50 shot. Oh well . . . πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I do pretty much the same thing. That's why I imagined "OUT" at the end of the letter pattern "S_OUT" for the 3rd try.

STOUT was already ruled out because the T was already a no-go in the 2nd position. So, the question obviously was: Which was the correct letter?

The only words that immediately occurred to me were SPOUT and SNOUT. I think that's because the P and N were both on the right side of the keyboard that I was looking at at the time. No better reason than that.

I chose SNOUT because I wasn't having any luck choosing the more common word 1st. Another 50/50 proposition UNLESS they were both wrong and, in that case, I'd then would have gone with SCOUT (which I think would have been the only remaining choice)

That would have still have scored a Bogey 5 and wouldn't have been a FAIL which, has already been shown in prior puzzles, quite possible w/other letter patterns.
