On Playing Wordle . . .

09/06/2022: Wordle 444 3/6

Just had to line up the 3 letters revealed in the
1st 3 positions in the "right" orderand the word
jumped out at me after I looked at it for awhile.
Seemed so obvious in hindsight.

14 possibilities after the 2nd guess per WordleBot
but the ONLY possibility with my 3 letter pattern.

The current NYT average for this puzzle is 4.5.

What do you do when you only have 1 vowel (luckily
in the green) to go on? You throw consonants at it.

When the 3rd guess didn't yield any more letters, I
figured the O had to be a double bc there were too
many spaces left and the 1st 2 letters had to be a
couplet, which limited the possibilities to WH, PL, GL, etc.
Went w/WHOO and there was the answer.

WordleBot said there were 21 possibilities after the 2nd guess
and 2 possibilities after the 3rd, The other word was WHOMP
that's in the dictionary but I never thought of but, if I had, I
would have ruled it out because I never thought it was used
outside of a comic book bubble.

The final NYT average for this puzzle was 4.2.

I had "WHOMP" at the end, as well, and I decided against it because my hunch is onomatopoeia words are unlikely to be Wordles. "WHOMP" actually occurred to me on guess 2, and I had to set it down for a few hours and then when I picked it up, I realized "WHOOP" was a valid option as well, and there we have it.

Any time there's only 1 vowel, I figure there
has to be a double letter somewhere. Either the
vowel or a consonant. The problem is guessing
which. Here, there was only 1 possible answer,
per WordleBot after the 3rd guess.

The current NYT average for this puzzle is 4.1.

Started w/TAU in positions 1-3 and just filled in
the remaining blanks.

14 possibilties per WordleBot after the 2nd starter
word but only 1 using this letter pattern.

The final NYT average for this puzzle was 4.5.
