On the Road Again with Merle

Very cool that you live so close to all that knife history (and trout fishing).

If you’re not opposed to bass fishing, I’ve got a bass pond a little closer to you on a place we lease. I know it’s not trout, but it can be pretty good. Let me know, I’d love for you to come out once the weather is better.
That's very generous of you.
I'll take you up on it in the Spring. :)

Thanks for showing Merle (and the rest of us) some cutlery history, Gary. I know opinions on this topic vary around here, but I’m glad to see the old Camillus factory utilized for something, rather than being torn down or left to fall apart on its own.

It’s getting to be that time of year here where you need an auger if you want to do any fishing. 🙂

That’s great! 🤣

I think my wife is mostly used to this sort of thing by now. That said, when I was getting out of bed before 6 am on a Saturday last month and she rolled over and asked what I was doing up so early, and I told her I was going to take a pocket knife into downtown Minneapolis to get some pictures with a neon beer sign before the sun came up… well, I couldn’t actually see her roll her eyes, but I could feel it. 🙄😁
My gf is used to it as well, especially all my photo ops during our outings 😆
Peregrin Peregrin Nice to see Merle visiting Camillus, I am sure he felt right at home.
That fishing spot looks idyllic.

Hyesouljah Hyesouljah your gf's reaction gave me a good laugh. 😂
I’m glad it did, gave me a good laugh also!
I got a good laugh out of these! We are nuts!
Totally 😁

Merle had a pretty quiet day today. He took a ride to Costco with us. At home he helped open some bags of birdseed.

A quick check in on Merle's visit.
Here's Merle (lower center) getting a glimpse of some of his sharp brethren that hang out in my cabinet.

The ubiquitous G2 boxes😂

These boxes are great, Chip! :D
They really are, with the big ones I cut out the slots on the left side and put in some drawer liner..they make a great disassembly tray and if I need to leave the knife apart for a bit I can just close the lid and stack them up.

If it's the original foam, (having received some of G2's boxes,) it was probably formulated for delicate instruments!!

looks better quality than the foam in my shadow boxes that I use for some of my other knives. But those are knives are really just giant novelty knives.

Sorry I’m a bit late getting around commenting on this post, Gary. Looks like you’ve got a nice setup with your knife cabinet there, and I appreciate that it’s a bit like mine (where things sometimes get tossed and/or piled on top of each other to be dealt with later). 😁

Some really special Barlows in that second pic there!

This one is for Charlie!
It don't get any better than this!

Great photo, Gary! Incognito mode!

Figured I'd stop in here quick with a few new Merle pics. Nothing special, just around the casa.
Merle was interested in this old gumball machine, which now dispenses M&Ms to the Grandkids. Maybe he has a sweet tooth!

He'll be back in a few days, with some Christmas pics.
Then he'll be on his way to his next stop! He says he hopes it is somewhere warm and sunny! :D

All our Christmas shopping is done, so we are just lying low for a couple of days. We did get some snow last night, so I took Merle out with me this morning to feed our feathered friends.
He was suitably impressed with the white stuff, but happy to get back inside where it's warm.
