On the Road Again with Merle

Here’s the ornament and spoon made exclusively with old Merle.

Nicely done!

Here’s a few pics showing the progression. Notice her expression change.

I moved Merle before I released her to collect the treats. Otherwise it might have been down the hatch!

🤣🤣

This concludes my time with Merle. Thanks for watching!

Thanks again for hosting Merle!

Merle has had a good week here in Florida. He was in Hurricane Nicole and cut up some Marine Corps birthday cake yesterday! Pics to follow soon...

Glad to hear it! I was starting to get worried he’d been blown away by the hurricane, or maybe caught up in some sort of “Florida Man” incident. 😉😁 Looking forward to seeing what he’s been up to.:thumbsup:

LOL, there are a few "Florida Man" stories each week here it seems but Merle is safe! Here are two pics of the St Johns River the day of Nicole. Merle was just hanging out with a Palm tree. We had some flooding and trees and power poles down but it wasn't as bad as other areas were hit. I'm very grateful and blessed my area wasn't hit too hard by the storm. Merle was also involved in a Marine Corps birthday cake cutting ceremony. Me and a few of my coworkers are Marines and we usually have some Marine Corps birthday cake on November 10th.

Over all, I'm digging him. Nice single blade with a thin profile. The slip that was with the knife is nice too. Def helps keep Merle in pocket....which I've been weirdly worried about loosing. There's a bit of pressure when carrying him because I worry about this "On the road again with Merle" responsibility and loosing him. I don't want to be that guy!! Well, I think Merle is having fun and getting some new experiences. I plan on keeping him one more week and them he'll be on the road again.

The Worldwide Knife Community would shun you.

Nice pics. Glad you missed the worst of the storm

Nice photos! Glad to hear you didn’t fare too bad with the hurricane.

I wouldn’t worry too much, I’m sure old Merle will be fine. Looking forward to whatever else y’all get up to!

how many more stops does merle have? 🤓

I just updated the list on the first page (added a couple more check marks for stops he’s completed and moved the pin for his current stop), looks like he’s got half a dozen visits left. Not too late to join in… 😉

Good morning everyone! Well, since Merle stayed with me a bit longer, I took him to a local cane grind where cane syrup is made. It's a full event with all types of food, friendship and music. So, they cut the cane earlier in the week and put it through a roller to crush it and get the cane juice. It's then filtered and boiled in a cauldron and skimmed more to clean it. Once it's boiling they begin bottling. I'm on the smoker team so I usually help smoking various meats such as ground bear, ground elk, quail, venison cubed with bacon around it, frog legs, and alligator. We smoked two new items this year. We added white sweet potatoes and kangaroo. Most of the meats are donated by attendees or team members. They also have a fish fry team, a swamp cabbage team, a jerky team, a peanut team, a jelly and jams team, and of course the cane syrup team. I got some pics of the two little gators, some of the meats on the smoker, and the bottled cane syrup.

Merle is going to be shipped off to BigKurtHaze BigKurtHaze prob Monday. I really enjoyed this knife and it's my style with the single blade. I haven't used slips before and have given I think two of them away here on BF. However, I carried Merle in the slip and the slip def helps to keep the knife secure in your pocket and protects it from other items that might be in your pocket. This has been a fun experience and I appreciate the opportunity to carry Merle around and to share a few events in my life with you all.

Pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing that. Man I love bear meat. I haven’t tried some of the others.

I too, enjoyed carrying Merle in a slip and found it’d a great way to carry an extra knife without them clanking together.
