One knife for 2011?

OK I'm in. I'll be with my USA schrade 77ot for all 0f 2011. It's been in my pocket about 90% of the time since I got in August so it shouldn't be too hard.

Ok I've already failed. :D

Actually I've decided to step out of my comfort zone and try to carry my GEC #73. My wife and kids gave it to me for Christmas of 2009 but I've never really "bonded" with it. I'll try to change that this year.

There's no way I'm going to make it. I cleaned up my country cousin, small Texas jack, and mini trapper today and I realized one year with the same knife just won't happen for me. I'm going to try for a month instead :)

I have a few months now give or take on this one.

Yes. D2. I like it because it doesn't stain easily and has a nice blue hue to it. Hard to sharpen though, but now that I have an edge on it , it stays sharp pretty good.

I've been doing well with a Cozy Glen Canoe for the past two months... but that's only because the rest of my collection has been thousands of kms away from me.;)

Seriously now. I have been thinking about this thread and all the men I knew as a young boy growing up in the north who all carried the same slipjoint in their pockets for decades. I remember seeing these guys cut the end off a cigar, cut up some lunch, and hack up oilcans all with the same knife. So in light of that I'm going to do this. Here's my EDC for 2011.

12 days down and starting my 13 strong! This is going to be easy. Its something I have wanted to do and you guys gave me the idea:)

It takes an edge that I just can't believe and cuts like nobody's business. She has a lot of miles left on her. I plan on making this my one knife that I carry till I get old and gross. It was a special gift from my girlfriend and I think of her every time I open it.

I thought my Schrade Uncle Henry stockman was going to stick since I carried for about a month and a half. Bought a GEC Dogleg and recently picked up a Case/Bose Norfolk that I just could not pass on..... Too many knives to leave at home every day!

See the problem is you guys keep buying all these new knives. It's really hard to buy a new knife, be it a basic knife, vintage, or custom, and not want to put it in your pocket and haul it around with you. Self-sabotaging behavior. ;)

One month down!

Ive made it one whole month with my trapper:) 11 more to go and I dont plan on stopping then either.

How is everyone else doing?

While my SAK has been on me 24/7 for 20+ years now, along with a Winchester stockman, I received a new Uncle Henry Congress for Christmas that might get thrown in the mix.

while i'm sure i'll throw another knife in my left front pocket or one of my back pockets, i think my case yella medium stockman will ride with me for the whole year and then some (cause i gotta make up for the week i didn't carry it).

thanks and good luck,
sam

Best I've been able to do is a four knife rotation. Hen and Rooster stockman, Queen jack, Case small Texas jack (amber bone) and Case chestnut swayback jack. Oh yeah, a Schrade Old Timer trapper too...and I have a GEC on the way...and I carried my Douk-douk one afternoon...never mind:o

I've been faithful to the Electrician so far but I'm getting tempted more every day by all my Cases.

So far so good for me. I rotate a secondary knife but my Case Humpback Stockman has been my constant companion since Christmas day. I don't mind saying that I have become quite attached to it. I suspect that, if I carry it long enough, there will come a time when I will absolutely refuse to part with it.

I hope that someday if I don't surrender and if I live long enough I can say "This old thing? Heck I've been carrying this knife for 20 years!"

Time will tell.
