One question...

I think my english spelling is way better then yours in Croatian, or am I wrong about it ?:jerkit:

Yes kaor, I do give you credit for that. If I was to to try to write Croation I would mangle the words so bad the spell check would never know what they were. Enjoy your time in nature kaor.

I think the main thing that people dont know about hunting is that its not only about shooting an animal. Its also an act of conservation, When one animal overpopulates, it takes the food and habitat of other animals. Thus in turns mess with the ecosystem. Obviously there are some animals that just cant be hunted due to near extenction, but others there are just too many of.

Just cant imagine my self killing something so beautyfull like wild anymall.........I will not lie to you my friends, if Im in situation that is me or animal, I would kill it.....

This is funny.

He's never hunted.

He is a vegetarian.

He thinks hunting is "unfair"

He thinks hunters are cowards.

BUT......if HE ever finds himself is a dire situation.......somehow.............

He:

WILL hunt.

Will give up being a vegetarian for meat...(why can't he find some crabapples or something instead?)

Will learn that hunting isn't nearly as "unfair" as he thinks it is....

Without any knowledge as to HOW, he'll magically be able to track/find/kill/clean an animal in this dire situation.

Would have to kill a running deer with a rock, as he won't have a firearm with him......

Would have to deal with his 'cowardice' for killing a "beautyfull like wild anymall"

In truth, he'd never be able to track/catch/kill any living thing in a dire situation: he wouldn't know HOW or have the means to do so. In short, unless he finds those crabapples or someone ELSE that does know how to hunt to save his butt, he'd be a goner for sure.

I'm always amused by those that have no clue clue how to do something, somehow think they'd INSTANTLY be able to do it "when it counts."

Right..............

If someone has never hunted, than they are completley ignorant about it and there is no use trying to get them to see how wrong they are.:(

Im talking about hunting like sport, not hunting like life or death situation , if you cant see difference then lets just stop talk about it...

I'd just like to second that opinion. You're doin' pretty darn good as far as I'm concerned.

Koar, look to the upper right side of the message block, above the smilies. There will be.......ABC and a check mark. Click in there and you can download a spell checker.

The last thing that I will say on this subject is that a wild animal hunted by humans, in a natural wild setting, has every chance of escape. whereas a stock yard fattened cow has zero escape. A wild animal also has a dice roll at a reasonably long life, if nature doesn't kill it early. A stock yard cow has a one or two year life span, if lucky. Wild animals have freedom, penned domesticates do not. Humans are simply at the top of the food chain and we are predators. Predators have eyes in the front of their face to focus on prey, whereas grass eaters generally have eyes located on the sides of their skulls to watch out for predators while grazing. We are also omnivors meaning we eat almost everything, grains and meat etc. We have flat teeth for grinding and pointed teeth for ripping flesh. If you wish not to eat animals, fine, more for me.

Dude, they ARE talking about the sport. And explaining why they like it.

Rabbit with a bow, cool ! It looks quite challenging.

Definitely challenging, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

My hunting skills are so honed that If it were up to me to thin a deer herd, they would be running down the streets of my town by the thousands, trampling little ol' ladies and kids to death with their hooves. I have in the past hunted with a 308 with a scope, a .357 8-shot sidearm, in my Jeep, with $200 boots and thermal clothes, using gas and freeze dried food for a week at a time , sleeping on ground so cold my plastic barrier craked into pieces in the middle of the night and one night I said...."F" this, I'm gettin to old for this...Why spend $10,000.00 and be miserable when I can go to Mickey Ds and pay $1.00 for a double cheeseburger...But I loved to hunt.

What I'm saying is Hunting isn't easy...you may get nuttin honey and you still see the wilderness which is 90% of the pleasure....so now that's what I do...just enjoy. :-)

Exactly, thats what kaor has to understand. Its not only shooting an animal. Its getting out do things the old way, staying a few nights in the woods. Taking childern out (if you have any)

For me, hunting has the effect of making me more of a human. Just like when I'm sitting here under a fluorescent light and then get up and walk outside and let the sun shine on me. It's what we are genetically engineered to do. Hunting an animal breeds compassion for that animal as well.

You are right that we don't have to hunt, but that's because we live in an artificial environment that we have created for ourselves. That's why you see more people from cities opposed to hunting, because large cities are the MOST artificial of environments.

Humans are hunters by nature, and while it is not necessary, it is good for you nonetheless. And on the point of it not being necessary, for all our modernization and wondrous technology, Give us 90 days without electricity and many Americans would perish if they don't find someone to provide for them, and the rest would be back to hunting things and cooking them over a fire out of necessity.

P.S. I would recpect hunter who would go on grizzly with knife or bearhanded, with sniper riffle is just.... totally unfair imo.

WHy didn't y'all go after the Bosnians with knives instead of the 50 cal's and sniper rifles? Also totally unfair...

A grizzly with a knife?

how can you not expect cinical responses with a statment like that.

mate I know, just was replaying on last David E post

My bad, man. I see what you are saying.

This dude's thread got completely hijacked.
Guys, we all shared our thoughts on why we believe in hunting. But things have gotten out of hand. He has already patiently requested we stay on topic numerous times. He isn't throwing judgments or disses, he just wants to see who shares his feelings on the matter.

Give the guy some respect and let him get the responses he asked for.

I give him respect. Just on the net its hard to get points, and tones acrost from typing. If he isnt open to other opinions and thoughts on hunting, whats the point of asking?

You see kroa, you guys in Croatia have been settled there for what 6 or 7 million years? We came over here on a boat just a short time ago. Give us a few hundred years and then come back and check on us then. See if we have settled in yet and have become "civilized". Untill then, see ya!
