Ongoing Details for the 2016 Bladeforums knife.

Let's not forget the Mammoth Ivory on the 2007 knife. Talk about a rare bird! I think there were only 57 of those made. Happened to snag one on a trade a few years ago, so I have 6 of the Bladeforums' traditionals. (2007, 2011-2015)

so smaller group back then you say?

Stag, good stag, is warm and buttery in your fingers. I honestly can't think offhand of anything that feels close, but...it is nice to have beautiful knives in other handle materials.( maybe I shouldn't say beautiful, maybe outstanding ?) Stag does raise the cost as has been mentioned already. The really good stuff is rare and I believe sambar is currently not exported tho' that will prob happen again when they've built up sufficient stock harvested appropriately. Blah blah. The point is, it's nice to have exposure to other fine scale materials. That cattarahus jigged scale is amazing! No one would call ebony, or similar wood, low end I believe. Rams horn is beautiful and rare and we pay for that. Jigged bone, smooth bone, oiled whatever can be gorgeous , if done well. Considering whose hands are in on this knife , the people and company, I think we can safely assume it's going to look pretty nice. $.02, FWIW
Thanks, Neal

One material that I've noticed an absence of on GEC's that I think would be a hit is rough buffalo, like Bark River uses. I know some people have observed some dimensional instability in polished buffalo covers, but the rough outer bark is (anecdotally) supposed to be a little more stable, and it adds a lot of character that GEC seems to be after with their various bone processes.

Excellent observation! I've lusted after several barkies with the impala horn as well.

Well guys and gals, I have some more info on the 2016 BF knife! Work has been progressing nicely behind-the-scene, and blades and springs are in heat treating. Our club knife will be going into production right after GEC's run of 77 barlow's, so in other words, it won't be long now! :):):)

A reminder: Gunstock Jack's Knives will be distributing the 2016 BF knives again this year; when a selling price is established (soon), I will post pre-sales listings for US and international sales - the price will include shipping. No other details are available right now, but Charlie or I will keep y'all up-to-date on the production status as we move along in the process.

So, in closing, I will just say: Whoo-hoooooo! These are gonna be great!

Gunstock Jack how do you go about getting one

Was a final color for the scales ever chosen? I assume the worm-groove bone has been finalized.
