Ontario Rat 1

Great knife. Tough as nails. I have thought of making g10 handle scales since the zytel scales are low traction.

I couldn't stand the teflon coating so I decided to stonewash mine.

Thanks, anyone had any QC issues with theirs? Kris

Nope, and mine span from the early ones with the single (reversible) thumbstud, to the latest ones. Quality is totally consistent across the years, and I've not found a problem with any of them.

I had been wanting an orange one with satin blade for a long time, but sadly they've been hard if not impossible to find. I broke down last week and got me a venom green/black bladed one, and I am very impressed. Gonna take it on a hog hunt next week and that'll be a good endurance test for the blade. Dressing and skinning hogs is very tough on a knife. Liked it so much, I just ordered a venom green/satin one. :)

+1,000 on the Rat 1 being a awesome knife with big value!
I have 3 and all are of consistent quality.
This knife is pretty amazing for the money for sure!!

How do you do that? Do you just scratch it up with abrasives until it looks good?

I just ordered the OD Green Rat 1 the other day, gotta grab those colored handles quick because they get sold out quick.

Is it just me or does the Coyote Brown Rat 1 kind of look gold?

I had one a year or so ago. Beat the hell out of it so much that I couldn't restore the edge. I may have to pick up another one eventually. Good blade.

This is a great knife. It's not small, but is a great size in use. I was really impressed with mine after trying a real knife test: Slicing a soft tomato:D. I was able to easily slice paper thin wafers. Any blade can carve wood, but thin slicing a too-ripe tomato is a challenge. The blade length and grind work very well together. It is a best buy for sure. Take care.

Great knife. After modding mine, I gained a new respect for AUS 8. It literally ate hacksaw blades and I needed a carbide rod saw to get through it. Brought it down to legal carry length and full convexed it. Still have a minty fresh satin & orange model, but figured the black & black version was safe to experiment on. Still locks up solid and dead center closed despite the abuse it went through. It's the rented mule of the folder world.

They should make some new colorway handles with digital and woodland camo and desert camo.

I also would like gold and silver handles!

i love it! if things go right i should be the proud owner of my first RAT within the week!! fingers crossed
