mykel m I thought instantly the bottom m looked like herman munsters head lol! Great minds think alike lol. It is beautiful though, I bet your wife loved it! So many beautiful designs everybody, keep them coming!

Hey Jeff, yes, original handles and jigging was done with a small ball head bit in a Dremel.

Ah...thanks for confirming that. I'm in the process of rehafting an old Camillus 22 peanut with bone scales I am cutting out of beef shin bones sold in the doggy chew aisle. I've practiced a little on some scrap pieces with that same ball end bit.

I can only hope I get close to the results you did!

Here is my #8's new little brother... the #4! Jigged the handles a bit and put on my signature finish, turned out really cool. The #4 was so small it was almost dangerous at times, but with the jigging, I have all the grip I need! This thing literally feels like air in your pocket! For the seasoned opinel pro, you will see I dropped the point on the blade slightly. This was a happy accident. I took a lil too much wood off and the point was just poking out the end! Quick fix, but I really like it! Let's keep em coming!

I need to work on my wood carving skills. One of the few things I haven't gotten into yet... other than whittling like crazy when I was a yungin lol. There is literally almost no limit to the possibilites. I made a fixed blade out of a #8 with a really thicksheepsfoot blad, about 2 1/2". Doesn't seem very practixal but I built it to destroy thousands of boxes and it has done just that. I am trying to figure out a way to add or modify the safety ring on the older opinels. The ones that oly lock in the open position. Anybody know anything other than taking it off and cutting the notches?

Obviously nothing close to what you guys have done, I just sanded/polished the blade, rounded off the left side of the spine for comfort, sharpened the right side into a scraper and took that annoying hump off the back.

I'm trying to make it into a good carving knife, do you guys have any other suggestions for mods I could do to it?

That's what it's all about nan making it work for you. I make money off most my modded opinels, but I have one I call the "box murderer" another one shaped like a bone for advertising my knife biz and even one that I just dropped the point and contoured to my hand with a little jigging for grip as an edc. If it works for, you good job man. It looks like clean work to me !
