Order instructions for BF survival knife from IronWolf

I know it's been said, but thanks to tarmix again. I stayed in a motel w/o internet access last night, and now I am getting swamped. I appreciate his efforts.

It looks like all the scandis will have the plunge line right next to the bump. I actually like it beter there myself, but until this thread, it was usually harder to sell one ground like that, so I went with the "standard" plunge line. :)

Lefty sheaths are no problem, just let me know with the order. A fire starter loop? if you can specify what diameter yours is, I can try to work it in, but I have seen them with different diameters, so it would be hard to guess right each time.

These are gonna be so great.

That scandi design is really gonna be nice. With a bevel like that it should be a demon cuttter and with the nice point like that it should work well for drilling:thumbup: Also being 1/8" it should also excell at slicing food and other camp stuff where a knife with a thicker spine would not be as easy of a slicer.

Sent off my deposit via paypal for the scandi, maple, loveless, lanyard hole and sheath!

Tarmix

I notice you got some folks down for 2 knives. You got me down for 2 blades right?

  ;) Yes he does. I wasn't being very consistent on how I was marking people paid. Sometimes my inconsistency's are very consistent:confused: ;) :D

So far we have 11 guys in (10 have paypal'd deposit) with a total of 14 knives.  Moving right along:D

One knife @ $140.00 (Nick is donating the other knife) + cost of stamp $60.00 = 200 / 11 = $18.18 per buyer so far. Even at the full price of $158.18..... thats still a great price for a numbered custom:eek:

Yup, that price still rocks! Custom knives under $200 is just an awesome deal. By the way, my MO will be headed to Ken today.

order sent, paypal sent, emails sent.

I didn't request anything as far as the sheath goes, although I do want one, preferrably WITHOUT the firesteel pouch. You could send me the firesteel, I am willing to pay for it. If you wish to deduct a few bucks off my total, and not send me the firesteel, I'm fine with that too.

Lanyard hole? No.

thanks

% cost of Sparks knife, and stamp is now down to $15.38. 13 guys in, and knives with a deposit on them.

Sorry to add confusion to this, but can someone explain the new location of the bump on the scandi grind? I'm not quite sure of what the "plunge line" is and its relation to the bump. I know you guys explained this before, I'm still just a little confused.

Thanks, I look forward to getting my order in!

Take a look at the picture in this response: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4598173&postcount=7

The "bump" will be ground closer to the blade, and the edge will be extended closer to where the scales will be. That way you won't have so much distance between the cutting edge, and the hilt.

OK, if you look at the picture of the blade blank you will notice that there is a bump in the handle that prevents your hand from going up on the blade.

Then there is a space between that bump and where the edge actually starts.

So what we are talking about is that the edge will end up right above that bump rather than having the space between the bump and where the edge starts.

This makes the blade better for notching stuff or powere cutting.

To understand what I am saying find a hard limb say 2" thick. Then try to completely whittle thru it using the 1/3 of the blade near the tip. You cannot push the blade as deeply into the wood.

Then cut the same limb using the 1/3 of the blade near the handle. I THINK you will find you have more leverage and can cut deeper with that part.

See how the edge in this blade blank comes closer to the bump than in the handled knife?

Here is another comparision

See how the edge almost reaches the handle in this pic?

Hope this helps:thumbup:
