It was great to see you too Charlie, I got more than my moneys worth there, the people make it so worthwhile, what a great bunch!
Lots of memories!
Thank you Joanne :)

It was great to meet and talk with you as well. I would love to see some of the harness jacks from your collection. Are they posted anywhere on the forum? Hope you have recovered from your ridiculous travels but as you know it was worth it. By the way me and my friend Larry were referring to it as THE corner. Because no other corner mattered. Lol
Check out the Harness Jack Threads on my signature line my friend.

Hey everyone!
Well, My Knives finally made it home today.
When I picked up the parcel In noticed Green U.S Customs and Border protection tape on the box, I have not seen that before, usually if I see any sign of Customs it is from this side and they are ( usually) pretty good.
I opened up the box of Knives and couldn't quite believe what I was looking at, before the box was sent I wrapped up each Knife with a Handee Towel and taped them, the whole lot had the tissues ripped of in small bits - then just thrown all together so they can do the journey from America through all sorts of mailing process machines and practice rugby throws with the knives all grinding against each other mashing and nashing away.
I can honestly say that at that moment of me playing that of scene of me mauling that p.o.s for a while was a little satisfying, I mean - they also just threw all the bits of handee towel back into the box for good measure.

In that box was al my knives from the show and a few from Mr Paul Hilborn's that were waiting for me, and some are just amazing knives.

So... trying my best to put that aside, I would love to start posting some knives that I got from this amazing Show.

I will start off with Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 amazing Knife that he walked up to me with at the show and handed it over, now I was already very lucky to have been given a real nice Leather Card slip made by Test Depth Leatherworks, with O R 2025 and the American Flag stamped Pile side - a awesome reminder of the time and place and event - just a brilliant thought- so Paul Thank you, so here is this great guy handing over my very first Crucible Harness Jack Knife! I have a couple of Crucible Scouts but never have I owned a Crucible HJ.
On top of that, this Crucible hasn't done a days work, this is a knife that hails from the year 1926 and Crucible Knives only came out within a small handful of years- so its darned near a centenarian and a beauty at that! Paul I cant thank you enough my friend, here it is.....

I had the pleasure of another chap walking up to me and gifting me a Knife, he knows I am a sucker for Sears Knives, and this fantastic guy pulls out a knife that is such a beauty- a beast at that, a Cattle Knife made by Camillus for Sears.
A large Cattle Knife as tight and solid as the day it was made, Craftsman USA leaves it open as to who made it until you look at that gorgeous "snub nose" Spey blade and that punch by Camillus, this punch is the sibling of the Spiral punch- a perfect match other that the Spirals of course. A real Workhorse!
Again a Knife that has done very little work and has been well loved previously!
So I would like to thank the creator of this Thread being the same very fine Gentleman who handed this beauty my way, danno50 danno50 Mt Keen Kutter himself - a massive thank you my friend, it is one honey of a Knife!

Yet another amazing moment, Charlie and I were talking quite some time before the show and we planned a swap hand over- but how can anyone handover anything that matches this!!

The man himself handed two of his super popular Lambsfoot knives over and asked me to pick one, talk about like going to pick out a puppy - how could you look past one to the other?

So this one here is that made it home - so welcome home, this Knife's home until such time there's a pine box being carried out the Door, prizing knives out the old Sods hands in the box might be the problem 🤣

I can see in reality what I have been viewing the proud owners when they share their Lambsfoot and talk about the Bone, The discussions from Charlie to Bill I'd pay to hear about the ignition of thought to reality of the outcome of this Bone, I also love the very subtle sway back.....

Charlie, Thank you so much...

So with the knives that you have see already - you can see and possibly imagine your own anger seeing your prized knives- each and every one treated in such a way by a uncaring deadbeat just clumped these knives together- imagine my fear taking out each and every one with the expectancy of who knows what, I am thankful of the outcome which could have been a lot lot worse.

It took me a couple days to buy this knife- I know... I know... how could you even take 10 minutes? but I wanted this decision to be right.

With Rhidian and Mike having their tables side by side made it hard but it also made it easier if that makes sense? Comparisons were able to be done on the spot, I consider myself extremely lucky to have one of Rhidians Knives here at home when- yep... you guessed it Charlie once again commissioned Rhidian to make an Lockwood Bros Castration Knife, the only reason why I was lucky enough to be a lucky owner of the original 3 is because I sent Charlie the original knife that had seen better days I can tell you!
So, I found myself .... this guy from New Zealand coming from nowhere to be here and contemplating " do I buy a Rhidian or a Moran"?

I actually felt it then, I stopped and looked around where I was 11000,00 km away from home actually being in the position of actually doing this, from where I came from, I can tell you I felt mighty privileged to be surrounded by knife friends and being able to make this decision.
I can understand why this would sound silly to you and I apologize, but this was a moment that hit me and I loved it!

Having a Rhidian at home I had to buy the Moran, I took another walk around the show and found a stunning Winchester Scout with a Napanoch Punch - went to pull out my wallet........

and it was gone....

I had a healthy amount of cash in there, my Licences - Credit Cards, every pocket was patted down, I thought- ok it must be in my pack...took that off and went all through that - it wasn't there, I can tell you that Cold feeling going through my body and yet I was actually starting to sweat. I knew if anyone picked up that wallet- with that cash in it- it was gone.

I just about flew back to the "Cool Corner " where I tried my best to blend in with the cool crowd, unfortunately the Kiwi Twang gave me away every time.

I saw Dave Gentry and told him I was about to have a heart attack - Dave grabbed me and smiled that darned smile and said " We found it"
Man I would have kissed that guy but kinda need my Teeth a little longer - He sent me to Charlie and he handed it over - Man!!!!!! I can tell you Charlie - you have no idea just how great that feeling was!

We have all been there, screaming - ripping your belt off trying to make it to the loo when every milli-second counts, using every muscle that you have in your body to hold on... well when you do finally make it- well ......... that feeling of relief ain't nothing compared to what I felt then at Charlies Table when he handed me my Wallet. 🤣😂 Thank you guys! 🙏

Back I went and picked up that Winchester Scout, and then went back and studied the Mike Moran two that I had my choices down to.

I chose this one! The slimmest Barlow I have ever had the pleasure to have had the pleasure of viewing- let alone owning. The superb Bolster work with the finest thread work and Fit and Finish that just makes you appreciate the skill set required to produce such perfection.

Back to unpacking my knives, I was trying to contemplate... do I use this Knife or do I queen it? this was on my mind before I even packed it up and sent it over, I couldn't put it in its case as it would have stood out even more as an outstanding knife to postal thieves- so this too was wrapped in Handee Towel paper, but thanks to U.S Customs and Border protection, having scratched the bolster ( thankfully very finely) and a very small chip from the very edge of the Handle- they made my decision for me, in a weird way I am glad as it has pushed me to use the knife with care, I can remedy the thankfully very minor damage.

I had a wee polishing effort and got a lot of the chip out after working it down finishing with 3000g on the handle edge and the Bolster I simply rubbed with remains of the polish on the Micro-Fibre- still needs a little bit, but nearly there.

When I spotted a wallet in the shadow of my display case, I thought "some poor guy is gonna be hurting!!" Imagine my surprise; and glee, when I saw Duncan's name and face in that wallet!!! 😁
It didn't take you too long to come by, Duncan!! Glad it rested momentarily in a friendly place!!

You sure scored a nice bunch of cutlery my friend!!

Duncan, I can’t say most of the words that came to mind when I was reading about the mistreatment of your knives by customs, because the Porch is a family-friendly subforum. 🤬 That’s just absolutely terrible and completely inexcusable. You are right, I suppose, that it could have been worse — at least nothing went missing — but still…

That’s a beautiful example of one of the finest collaborations between waynorth waynorth and GEC (and we all know there have been some really good ones).:thumbsup:

Duncan, you’ll have to forgive me for using the “laughing” emoji reaction to this post — I only laugh because I already know the outcome. (Plus, Dave laughed first…) 🤣

I am glad your wallet turned up quickly and easily, and in some very trustworthy hands. Disaster averted!

That’s a beautiful Moran Barlow you picked up! I hate that it was damaged by the ineptitude of that worthless excuse for a customs agent, but I do think Mike’s knives deserve to be used, so it’s good that it’ll be a user for you.

Sitting at that big table in the Airbnb the first day we got there and getting to handle Mike’s knives, I was amazed how by thin they were (and, of course, they’re as well made as any I’ve handled). As I’m sure I mentioned when we were in Oregon (and probably in this thread), buying one definitely was not in my plans for the weekend, but I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

Here’s mine at a local brewery this past weekend.

Glad you like the wallet and HJ, Duncan. Meeting you will certainly be a highlight of my year.

Horrible how they treated your treasures but glad none of them were missing.
