Oregon Knife Collectors Association Knife Show April 13th - 14th Eugene, Or

Charlie, I see the slight differences between those two Remington Punches, know for that lovely concaved Punch with the Blueing still showing- Charlie is the 2nd from top Remington older than the top etched example?

I didn't take a lot of photos, and I didn't get to stay as long as I would have liked, but it was great to see some familiar faces, and to meet some new ones ( btb01 btb01 ).

The highlight of the show for my oldest daughter (the eponymous Abby) was when Charlie gave her an beautiful knife that matched her shirt! She is still pretty over the moon about that knife.

My only purchases at the show were a trio of USA made official BSA knives in the classic scout pattern (since they are not being currently produced anywhere in the classic pattern with BSA branding as far as I can tell). I like to have a stockpile for my annual Giveaway, and these were all solid condition users for future giving.

And then, in no particular order, here are some of my favorite knives that I saw at the show. I was mostly picking ones I thought my 7 year old son would like to try to tempt him to come this year. My son is pretty neurospicy (as my wife likes to put it), and he was having too much anxiety about going anywhere to make it to this year's show. So I wanted to bring some fun knife images back to him. I've made the images small, but if you click on them I think you can see them full size.

Those daggers with the Widmanstatten patterned meteorite blades were just an astounding standout at the show for me. So extraordinarily (extraplanetarily) cool.

I also want to point out the little lockback with the carbon fiber scales. It doesn't look particularly special in my photo, but I found it utterly magnetic in person. It caught my eye from about 30 feet away, and I loved it. If I had the money to spend, I would have snapped it up. I often say that I will probably never actually _NEED_ another knife if I live to be 300 years old, but ooh baby did I _WANT_ that one.

Great to see all the porch members at the show! This was my first meeting with Rhidian in person, as he has the table directly behind mine. (My truck puked the transfer case on the way to the show last year.) So with some fancy moves I managed to score this beauty.

That baby was a sight to behold! If there was one knife to check out at the show, I think that was the one! I was forcefully telling people at my table that they needed to go take a look at it. 🤣

Oh, and did any of you see that damascus sword by Mareko Maumasi of Maumasi Fire Arts!? I wish I would have gotten a picture of that. What a beaut!

I’ll preface this post by saying that I did a terrible job taking pictures this weekend, but I did get a couple here and there, so what you get is what you get. 😁

I had a great time at the Oregon show — not only my first time at the show, but my first time in the state of Oregon! It was awesome getting to meet up in person with so many folks I’ve known online for years, and while the weekend really felt like it flew by, I’m grateful for the amount of time I got to spend at the show browsing knives and, even better, talking with old and new friends.

Saturday was definitely busy!

There were some cool displays at the show (and, of course, I didn’t take pics of most of them). I thought this one with countertop knife displays was really interesting.

Here’s @knowtracks impressive Schatt & Morgan display. In addition to having a great collection, Dave is a lot of fun to talk with.

I bought a couple knives on Saturday, an older Opinel and a Camillus What-A-Knife (I can’t ever pass one of those up for a reasonable price).

And Charlie gave me this beautiful Opinel in Black Palm wood! Thank you again, Charlie!

Getting to see and handle this knife was absolutely a highlight of the show, and I enjoyed talking with @Rhidian about some of the processes that went into making it.

All in all I had a great time in Oregon. Thanks to H herder for finally talking me into going. I think I’m going to have to come back next year!

Just a couple pics from around town.

Great pictures Barrett. I have been going to the Eugene show for decades and it never fails to impress me.
Good to see old friends as well as new ones. Charlie had a nice selection of GEC knives for sale and Dave had a beautiful Schatt & Morgan display.
Rhidian took home several awards including "Best of Show" for his incredible Marbles type folding hunter knife.
While this show is among the best in the country, it's really a wonderful event that brings friends together. Good conversations and good food are hard to beat.
It did bring a group chuckle though when I asked for ham or bacon at our first breakfast restaurant only to be told, "we don't serve meat here sir, vegetarian or vegan only". :)
Here are a few of my finds, Ulster, Russell, Lockwood.

Herder- Great score of a great trio matey, each knife is gorgeous! I'd be happy walking away with just one of those, and.... of course that Safety Knife of Rhidians 😂

I wish I was there to witness you Charlie seeing your old contact of the Harness Jack world, and to see the handover of those stunning Harness Jack Knives! Just awesome!

The Story!!
I didn't buy many knives at Oregon this year, but I could not pass up this collection!!!
It turns out Mac collected Harness Jacks before I did!! A bunch appeared on a site called "Vintage Knives" in about 2004, and I was buying them like crazy from Billy, the site's owner! I found out on Saturday that they were coming from a Guy named "Mac", who has been following my HJ story since the beginning!! He showed up in Oregon, and offered me the last of his diminished collection - five knives - in a handmade leather roll!! So here I am buying knives, HJs, again, from the same guy, 20 years later!! What a happening for me!! And for "Mac"!!!
We chatted for over an hour, sitting behind my table, and that was the best part!!
Love that story and the knives, Charlie! Great for you to finally meet the source for many of your harness jacks. I think it is karma, good things happen to good people.

Looks like danno50 danno50 was the name drawn! Shoot me your shipping info when you get a chance, buddy. :)
Just sent you a PM. It was nice meeting you at the show and looking forward to seeing what you are sending.

I also have a few pictures to post, but, won't be able to get around to it until tonight or tomorrow.
