OT: Fiddlebacks & Firearms

I agree. I have that load in the Gp100. Will have to pair it with a blade soon. I don't plan on taking out any bears though. As a SHTF defensive tool it would appear adequate on paper.

A 10 shot string through a 4" barrel yielded a mean velocity of 1296 ft/s with a range of 98 and a standard deviation of 32.

That would put the estimation of bullet energy in ft/lbs at 675.3 at the point of measurement.

I've used their Heavy 10mm 180 gr. in the 6" 1911 shown, but not checked the velocity out that barrel. For a 5" it runs about 1350 fps/~725 ft/lbs. I'll have to check out their .357.

I'm loving this thread. I need to add something, but I haven't taken a lot of pics of my guns w knives. Yet.

Go in your 'at home' shop area and pull down some of those cowboy guns hanging on the wall, add some of those antique locks, along with some of those blades you've locked up in that roll-away toolbox. :D

That is a sweet combo Dave. I have always wanted a Ruger#1 in 45-70. That is a serious thumper. I am glad that that Ladyfinger made it to you. 3/32" CPM 154 and guardless is a fantastic set-up.

Thanks Phil. I love the 45-70! A "fun" thumper it is. I have 3 chambered in that round. A NEF single shot that I filled the stock with #8 shot and put a slip on recoil pad on. I also have a an 1894 Cowboy with an octagon barrel and this #1. It's an underrated white tail cartridge.

(Psst Phil it's a Ladyfinger not a Recluse but I won't say anything ;))
