OT: GUNS

Glock 43 has been a reliable CCW weapon for me. I have had good luck with 1911's but they are just to heaven for me to carry consistently. I had serious issues with M&P Shield as well as Sig P938. However, my Sig P226 Legion has been flawless. Sometimes it's a craps shoot as to whether or not a sem-auto pistol will malfunction. That being said, some have less issues than others.

Can’t say the same from my numerous Sig’s or other brands. Never understood Glock “hate”, they make a damn fine tool. If it’s not your cup of tea, there are so many other handguns on the market for purchase.

Have a friend who swore by his Sig P238. That is, until he got the Colt model.
I carry a M&P Shield 40, and I couldn’t be happier with it.

It's hard to fault a Glock. Imo, they are THE combat pistol. Just my opinion.
Personally, I prefer a nice 1911 :)
Gotta love those opinions. Speaking of opinions....
5 out of 6 friends who have owned glocks had problems with them. Different models, different gens, from different shops. 2 of which I was a witness. Is this anecdotal? To you, yes. To me, it’s what I was told by people I trust, and saw with my own eyes. As such, I’ve never bought a Glock, and I don’t ever plan on it. They might as well be Kel-Tec in my book. Hell, one of those friends has a Hi-Point that he keeps In the truck. Says he’s never had a problem with. The majority of shooters say Glock is the gold standard, and hi-point isn’t worth anything. I’m not suggesting hi-point. Just making observations and rambling. Never posted about this before. Not worth stirring the pot of Glock lovers on gun forums. Figure you Knife folk are a kinder, gentler breed.

Wait a minute....

This isn’t the drinking thread!

ok, so maybe a little off topic on this off topic thread, but why would anyone buy a hi point for $150 when for about $100 more you can get a used quality smith or ruger?

Yeah, those hi points are pretty lame. Bad ergonomics, way too heavy, and ugly as all get out. My buddy got his as kind of a joke to himself. The thing worked well enough that he decided to leave it in his truck. His reasoning (other than it working) is, “If someone steals your hi point, who cares?” Lol!

Seriously, don’t buy a hi point.

Keep us updated on the fix. I know you did research and found FN hasn't been entirely helpful, but have you tried contacting them? Just curious as an FN fan and owner of an FNS 9 (for now, at least).

Military Arms Channel does a gauntlet torture test on a variety of handguns on their youtube channel. Very interesting to see how the different handguns handle the test. The CZ P10C did very well as well as the CZ P07. There are a few surprises in the different tests.
Just like the knife torture tests, the same quality handguns tend to do well in these and other tests.

I have a FN Five Seven and also several BHP's.

I plan on picking up a FNX .45 Tac in the future, first I've heard of the mag issue. I have heard they are a real pain to detail strip the lower though.

I’ve been eyeing up the Czp10c for a while now. I always loved the love an feel of Cz pistols, I’ve never pulled the trigger on one.

Speaking of quality control, I am seriously considering picking up a SIG MPX K with stabilizing brace. Have any of yawl had any experiences with the Sig MPX line? Should I just bite the bullet ;) and get a civilian HK MP5?

I had a FNX TAC .45 and ran 700 rds down the pipe with zero malfunctions and never once had an issue with the mag release. The next pistol i was wanting to buy is a FNX .45 but now after reading this thread im gona have to do some research on it to see how common that mag release problem is. Thanks for sharing.

I have a sig MCX Pistol. Don’t have anything negative to say about it, but I haven’t shot it much either. Heard there are some POI shift issues. Concept of what they wanted to do with it was good, their execution not so much. I still haven’t been able to find a 300 BO upper kit to be able to swap it out and I’ve had it for 2 years. Then they released a new version about a year after. Honestly, I plan on selling it as soon as I can get it to a shop

I had fnx awhile back , traded it for nib px4 storm .40. Everything else is SiG ... I do miss my 1911s though but they got traded for long guns

Same here, but I'm even more extreme. With the exception of a couple of very special hanguns, I've gone plastic striker fired for the weight savings and simple battery of arms. I've been selling, or giving to my son, the 1911s. My favorite go-to handgun, at the moment, is the Walther PPQ M2. I think they make it in 45 now IIRC. Otherwise, I spend the handgun money on long guns.

I've heard the FNX45 is a good one, but sometimes you'll get a lemon. I've had pretty good experience with FN rifles.

Well, update. I took it to my gunsmith and we both agreed that the problem was the mag release hanging up on the frame. So I he ground down the mag release button just enough to have no drag and it works like a dream. Now, I hope the gun shoots well.

Good deal!
Seems like just about all of them need something out of the box anymore.
My favorite are Ruger Mark 3s. Ruger is great at upgrading one thing that makes the gun better and 4 things that make it worse. Picked up a Mark 3 stainless bull barrel when the mark 4s came out before they all disappeared. Love the relocation of the mag release but I had to replace the magazine disconnect and the loaded chamber indicator to make it the way it should be. They messed up the Mark 4 enough that I will not own one.
