Our "Front Porch" ....

My specialty is a seafood medley and linguine in white clam sauce. Fresh linguine, fresh Italian parsley. Garlic
Large shrimp, scallops, chopped clams.
That is a yum. Glass of Merlot and dome garlic bread.

We have a Dinner that is romaine lettuce with thinly sliced (med/rare) steak over the lettuce with some crumbled blue cheese and a dressing of wine vinegar and extra virgin olive oil, some diced walnuts and red peppers.
Yum. Could be a compromise dinner for you two.

sorry to interject, but this sounds absolutely amazing. I enjoy salads (large dinner salads, if that is a 'thing') and i once had a steak Cesar salad from a really nice restaurant, and it was the best salad I've ever had, and this sounds similar.

Black n blu with any type of wine/Mediterranean dressing with extra blu crumbles works for me. Definately one of my favorites. Stomach can't handle the nuts but I've learned to deal with it.

Now there used to be a famous steak house off I 24 just shy of the Tennessee line in Oak Grove KY that had the absolute best blue cheese dressing. It burned down quite a few years ago but I've came close to recreating it for house salad with sliced diced beets, canned mushrooms, and just a pinch of shredded carrots. Very very simple salad which lets the dressing take over.

Roquefortue blue cheese crumbles, mayo, miracle whip, 1/2 lemon juiced, paprika (touch of your favorite whine vinegar optional). (Approx 2 cups when finished)

I use mayo 2/3 to 1/3 miracle whip. Mix all ingredients then add peprika and stir until you have a really pink consistency but don't stop adding it until the dots of peprika have filled the mayo/miracle whip entirely. When you think you have enough peprika odds are you need a lot more. I can never make just one serving so don't have exact recipe but it's easy to get right with a few tries. After mixed let chill for at least 2 hours before serving. You're looking for a color of thousand island but a tad darker.

Edit. After chilled it should be really thick and stick to a spoon held upside down.

So.....as it turns out I am entertaining three different chicks tonight.......

Sadly.......they are all 8 yrs old........

My daughter had a PD Day (not sure what the U.S. equivalent would be) today so there was no school......so she invited a couple of her friends over this afternoon and they are still here.......kids are exhausting......
Now at least they are quiet.....eating popcorn and watching one of the Harry Potter movies so I have a chance to play on the forum.......

The good news is that my daughter agreed to a steak/salad night tomorrow so we are going to try out Rubi's recipe.....I'm really looking forward to it......and so is she......which I found a little surprising......she got to pick out the steak at the butcher today.........

Hope all is well with everyone and you all have a more exciting evening in store for you than I do........:D

Not totally sure if this is what Rubi was describing.....but this is what we ended up having for dinner tonight and it turned out pretty well.......

To all who may get some blizzard conditions....be smart and be safe.

To those traveling, I feel for you. Keep a positive mindset (if possible) to reduce stress.

Pete and Mason watching the storm come up the valley :) My Wife told me she said (outloud) "I love my Life" that was nice to hear. Beautiful place to live.

That is an incredible thing to hear........you are a lucky man.........many are not so fortunate.........

Thank you Ross. She may have been referring specifically to the Dogs, the setting and the moment .......:) but assuming I had something to do with some of that I'll take what I can get.
ALL things Good come to those in time........ :) As the saying also goes, I have had many more yesterdays than I have tomorrows. Learned many things over those years and appreciation is one of those things.

You are very welcome, Rubi.......one can only hope you had something to do with it......:D

And you are absolutely correct in the importance of taking the time to appreciate life.......I believe it is very much a learned habit that requires daily practice........
