Our "Front Porch" ....

Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable weekend, another Sunday evening is upon us and the start of a new week - make it a Great one.
Try and do something for yourself or another completely unusual for your "norm" and positive for ALL :)
Why not? Life is short, when it's time to leave make sure nothing was left on the table.

This where I am this week....Black Butte Ranch just outside of Sisters, OR. Near Bend. A week of hiking the 3 Sisters (pictured), Mountain Biking, some White Water Rafting and Fly Fishing.... A yearly pilgrimage. Went geocaching with my daughter Ruby today, special times... Have a great week all!

Tinycrumb - if you see this and want to get together give me a shout!

Very bery nice Maprick! Sounds like fun. What's the route for white water?

One of those days........ Reminds me of why (one of the reasons) I like/love/ everything about - Hinderer.

Quality - Integrity - Say what they mean and mean what they say - Straight shooters dealing in quality of what they create as well as how they back everything they say or do.
Had a couple of run-ins with the "norm" of society today. The worst of the worst of Corporate say one thing and do another and then spin the whole story relying on (hoping) the frustration gets the person (me) to simply go a way. Funny, they don't know me;)
So, then I/we get to come here and unwind OR go to a knife show and (for the most part) rub elbows with a bunch of like minded - good folks, who happen to like knives.
I thank Rick and Rob a fair amount but, it is all heartfelt and well deserved so.....it's never too much.
I submit or challenge "Us" to always be good stewards of this "No B.S. Zone" keep it a place to come and kick back and know that there will be relaxation to be had.
That was it (for now:D)

BTW- Forgot to mention, spent a good portion of my weekend with some dear friends (like minded individuals) on my way back home I stopped for the day (Sunday) at the Penn State Arts Festival. Lots of fond memories from days of old. Except......
I'm slightly "different" from my formative years in many ways. Was getting out of my truck and realized I still had my tee-shirt on from yesterday. Was always blessed with good aroma so two days in 90* weather in the same tee has never been an issue Except.....
This tee said ...... " Got Ammo!" on the front. Like "Got Milk" which would have worked pretty well at an Ag school like PSU BUT..... this was "Arts Festival" weekend with a Bob Marley Band and lots and lots of folks not wearing
"Got Ammo" tee shirts if you know what I mean.
Stop! NOT Political here just mentioning my Odd weekend experience after being with a buncha Knife and Gun Dudes and Dudettes.
I will offer that if I had shown up at GTG #1 with a Peace symbol tee I would Not have met with the same vitriolic reception I experienced at GTG #2 with the "Got Ammo" - I'll let you draw your silent independent conclusions from that observation - just sayin' ;)
Anyway .... Is what it is as the saying goes.
World is a "funny" place.

Well...I sure appreciated your shirt and thanks to a great friend...I did get ammo!
Really enjoyed seeing you and your son!:)

Here is to More of those

Oh the t-shirts...

Along a similar line, during my journey to the ranch I saw many an "O"ffensive bumper sticker.

Pleasant to one, repulsive to another...and all had better be very grateful to those that provide them the freedom to their opinions.

This tee said ...... " Got Ammo!" on the front..............

I'm not a shooter or a gun person anymore myself, but one of the reasons I went to war was to fight for your right to have guns if you choose. Wear that shirt with pride!

Hey, I won't mention a company name but any you guys have any
Experience with "meat off the truck"?
Guy shows up and sells boxes of assorted steaks

Edit- Answer, IF you can get it cheap, it's not bad. I would say it falls short of "quality" grub.
Box had 33 steaks and 20 burgers - get it at or below a Franklin.

I was thinking about the Civil War Battle(s) fought at Gettysburg and my experience attending a re-intactment a few years back. If you think these are just big boys playing around on a weekend, think again. They live the period, tents, food, and weapondry. The battle I attended was the fight for Culp's Hill at Gettysburg.

It was a fierce fight with artillery fire by the North raining down on Confederates as they tried desperately to flank the Northern Troops entrenched in their hastedly erected breast works. This battle was re inacted at Filmore Glenn State Park located in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of NYS. Spectators were allowed very close to the fighting and sometimes found themselves between the opposing forces. Each actor had a name of an actual soldier who fought at this battle and prior to the fight give you his biography, marital status, siblings, home, etc., which made the battle more realistic. You were cheering quietly for your soldier to survive the battle and if wounded, the surgeon's saw.

As the battle commenced in the cool breezes of the parks gorge artillery began its thunderous roar with billows of white putrid smoke that obscured the battle field momentarily. As the first barrage got started my cell phone went off " Captain I hate to bother you on the weekend (they always say this) but I had a quest.... kabam, pow, boom, pow, pow, pow, hello Captain, Captain are you there! Yes ,boom, boom, pow pow, yes hello. Sgt yells into the cell phone what the hell is, boom, boom, pow, pow, kaboom. The artillery fire subsided enough for a soldier to yell for more ammo, "what's that you need ammo, what the f. K is going on Captain, are you being attacked?

I replied no this is just a re-inact boom, kaboom, pow. Then I lost cell service, fortunately cell tracking wasn't as advanced as it is now otherwise it would have been a "code 30" ( call for officer assistance, send everything). I answer the cell phone again, "Captain what the hell is" wawoooo, yahoo, woooo, yahoooo, from the dense woods comes hundreds of Confederate soldiers with their battle cry. "Captain where are you, let me send back up" " I am at a Civil War re-intactment" Sgt responds Good Lord you had me worried, thought I dialed up a wrong number at got Gettysburg 1963 battlefield.

As the Confederates advanced their, gallantry, bravery, and desperation were rewarded with obscene carnage. As the fighting continued they advanced to a point where both sides put thier guns down and reached out to each other in warm handshakes and embraces to the tearful applause of the spectators. As to my poor bewildered Sgt he only said that he had never in his life experienced such a bizarre call, he said it sounded so realistic and could actually hear me yelling orders to the troops to protect that flank.

Thanks to all who serve and have served!

Chipmunk has pushed me too far! Don't break a Mans hummingbird feeder and not expect to be made dead.

Kill Zone

Too hot for a Gilly Suit, I opted for my Chippy Suit instead

I'm 8 hours into the hunt. Had a shot and my scope had not held zero - shot landed 4 inches low - He looked at me, I looked at him.
I nodded "You Win" He flipped me the finger (or whatever they have) ...... this isn't over until I spill Chippy Blood:mad:
