Our "Front Porch" ....

R, thanks for posting the photo. I gave enough info so folks could GOOG image it.

If any more images pop up please share them, guys/gals. Or link to them if they are posted elsewhere. Thanks.

I know that many of you saw my sales threads. I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to all of you regulars who took time out of your day today to contact me expressing concern for my family's well being. You are truly a remarkable group of people. Most of you know me well enough to know that i would only sell off my Hinderers as an absolute last resort in a true emergency. Believe me I have lost many hours of sleep over the past few days trying to find another way. I racked my brain but this was the only way without getting us into serious debt. I am absolutely sick over this. I know that they are only material possessions but you guys know how attached you get to a hinderer knife. I spent years collecting them and finally collected the scales and parts I wanted to make them my own. My family needed me to come through as the man of the house and this is what i had to do. Everyone is healthy and safe thank god. This sub forum is truly a great place and it is amazing to me how many genuinely good people reside here. I am hoping to hang onto one of my XMs but we will see. Either way i am still going to hang out in this sub forum and be a loyal RHK supporter. Thank you so much again guys. I'll see you around. -Jensen

Jensen I sure hope all goes well for you and your family bro... I'm glad you will still be around, cause this place wouldn't be the same with out you man... I've got my finger and toes crossed for you...

The best of luck and hope everything gets worked out

Jensen- please Do stay as a "Member" of Our SubForum. You are doing what needs to be done and the knives will be here when things turn around and time levels things off.
Man does what has to be done for his Family no ifs, ands or buts.
Salute

Save people the trouble ...

No problem, I saved people the trouble of having to "GOOG" and will post a new thread soon to share what I have on the new collaborations.

Jensen, absolutely! You know there will be one waiting on your fortunes to swing back around… ;)

Good luck Jensen, Knives are Knives, People count......... you count here, don't be a stranger.....

J81 you are a true measure of a man! Possessions no matter how attached we get to them are still possessions, now family is a whole different matter. A man has to do what needs to be done. Either way don't be a stranger here we all enjoy your posts!
Joe

J,

You better stick around, and contribute when you can. It's attitude, not possessions that keeps this place worthy of our free(ish) time.

Hope things are improving.

Just want to say I really like booting up my puter and chatting with you guys.....you're all top notch type people,,,,,

I thought I'd share a little story yall might enjoy (its related to Hinderer's)

It's funny the things our brains sometimes miss, fail to recognize, or process. I like to think of myself as meticulous, detail oriented, and observant. Likewise, no one has ever called me "type-B" personality- I'm not the type to miss much and I tend to catalog everything I see or hear. On a knife note, and I promise these are related, I have a weird love for recurves. I know all of the classic issues with them (i.e. they absolutely suck to sharpen), but they are just so so useful and I find them super aesthetically pleasing. One of the first nicer knives I ever drooled over was the zt300 and lately I've found myself randomly staring at the direware knives somehow trying to justify a massive expense on a knife that I can't find anything out about and that I absolutely do not need. Then I was randomly browsing back and forth between here and USN and suddenly ran across the Hellfire grind, and to put it shortly- I'm now obsessed. I've probably googled "Hinderer Hellfire" 20 times today just to look at pictures (I'm sick and have been laying around all day so productivity was low to begin with). How have I possibly missed these? I'm around here constantly, I've looked though most of the old pictures threads, and yet somehow I guess I've never noticed them before. It is super unlikely that I've never seen them before, so I've determined that my mind must have been blocking them from me subconsciously to limit their effect and prevent explosion until I was better suited to handle them. Which is apparently now :D

Get well soon.

Yep Hellfires be neat. But the blade shape did appear on some of Rick's earlier work before it hit the XM. Now, the easiest way to get one to play with will be the KaBar/TDI collaboration fixed blades...knowing they'll likely eventually hit the street below MSRP (following any potential sellout situations at first) they will be must-own items.

Photos of Robs that I recently posted in the photo thread were of XM Hellfires.

I own a few recurves, and like you mentioned...they can be a booger to maintain, so I don't use/carry them much...well, not at all since my XMs get most all my attention. Among my recurves are a Tim Britton folder that was once in the pocket of the CEO of ASP for evaluation...and one of the first 50 Grayman Satus in black DLC w/ c/f scale.

Thank! I somehow get a cold right around this time every year, and regardless of what I do my crappy immune system fails to fight it off for weeks.

I saw that collaboration and I think I have to get one. I don't own a single modern fixed blade and this is the perfect remedy. I've since looked back through the picture threads and some of Rick's earlier knives with the Hellfire grind are really interesting. I think I prefer the XM platform (honestly an xm-24 with a Hellfire grind might be my grail of grails at the moment), but if the dollars are ever in my pocket when one of these pops up I feel safe saying the specific model won't much matter.

Recurve maintenance is actually sort of what has held me back from buying a WE or EdgePro system. I, despite my love of them, don't own a single recurve at the moment, but I have a long list of knives to add to my collection and several are. That being said, I always feel skeptical about a guided system and something as complex as that so I've never gone beyond my little stones. Your recurve collection is very impressive Tim Britton does make some very cool knives.

It's what happens when you give OCD people time! We find things to obsess over.

Speaking of OCD.... I was grinning as I departed the local auto parts store today (empty handed) you see, there once was a day I used to wash my vehicle -daily.
As many of you may remember from posted pics, I have a Black Toyota.
So, today the weather is kinda nice and I'm bored (at the office) figured I might wash the rig and I won't go to a car wash (I have not evolved that far) I mosied in to my local auto parts store to buy some car wash supplies even though I have a full cabinet at home.
After browsing and doing the math I said to myself "this is stupid just wait until you get home and maybe do it then" The leaving empty handed and the "maybe" comprise the reason for my grin. There was a day there would have been a clean truck sitting outside right now.
That was it, not much of a story but what do you expect from a recovering OCD addict :)
