Our "Front Porch" ....

I should add, No disrespect to anyone who suffers from real OCD. It's not called a disorder for no reason.
OCD is an often used term (I'm guilty) we probably are better characterized as picky or detail oriented or as my Wife would say, "Really? really! Get a Life" :(
To which I reply, "But Honey, I suffer from OCD - Hug me" (jk) I don't like anyone touching me.

You're okay Rubi, most of us here have our big boy pants on. Unfortunately there some folks out there that are immobilized by that disorder. However as language evolves so does interpretations, sometimes the term OCD (non clinical) is used in a positive connotation with no disrespect intended . The more common non clinical definition is more like you said picky and detail oriented. Many moons ago when I was in uniform the guy who was anal/ OCD ( these terms were actually positive attributes) about his uniform, car, gun and equipment is the guy who was cracking cases and making arrests. He/ She would notice things out of order much quicker than the average grey bag.

I'm OCD in many ways but also let things out of my control play out as they do. I can sit in chaos as long as things within my control are in order.

Absolutely correct all around on the term OCD which I use entirely too often. As a clinical disorder it is absolutely crippling and I mean no disrespect or attempt to lighten the gravity of the disorder. In fact, most of the time I tend to use it in a semi-positive manner for those of us who tend to fixate on details (aka type-a folks).

On an unrelated note, thanks to Prelude I received my textured CF scale today and absolutely love it. Best scale ever.

Glad you love it man!

On a different note, has anyone seen any vids or pics out there from TKI concerning Hinderer's new models? I'd love to see how that all went down.

From my front porch this morning, it'll be nice to see some blue sky today!

Very nice AZ, gorgeous skyline, love the colors! I remember so well working the night shift and I always enjoyed seeing the sunrise. The morning has always been the best part of the day for me, a new beginning, a chance to do things better than the day before.
Thanks for sharing!

FO I like your outlook... "...a new beginning, a chance to do things better than the day before." Love it bro! :D

I do love seeing the sun rise being in the outdoors. Probably one of my most favorite things

Thanks KJ, I believe the majority of those on the Hinderer sub forum are highly motivated and have positive outlooks on life in general. Seems like most of us have searched for the best in hard use tactical folders with uncompromising build quaity and have gravitated here. However as many have alluded to, we also seek the best in flashlights, footwear, backpacks, firearms, vehicles, etc. I've always enjoyed and sought out positive and motivated people to be around. I really try to avoid people who are pessimistic, unmotivated and have the mantra " good enough".

I remember as a new trooper to this area on my first day I was assigned to ride patrol with with a local trooper. It was a spring day and he started bitching about the weather. Well here in the Southern Tier of NYS the springtime weather can change throughout the day.

This day was like so many other spring days where it started out cold in the morning and Mr Downer as I called him, vocalized about the crappy cold day and how tired he was of winter. A few minutes later it started to snow, this brought on a triad of verbal bitching about the roads becoming slippery and car accidents we would most likely would have to do reports on. Ten minutes later the snow turned to sleet and freezing rain, Mr Downer cut loose with another barrage of negativity of why the hell can't the weather make up its mind. Few minutes later the sun came out and warmed the inside of the patrol car and the windshield magnified the suns rays striking our dark winter jackets warming us up and call for sunglasses. Now he was hot and uncomfortable and could not find his sunglasses. Mr Downer now was in his zone and released another volley of toilet mouth gibberish about the never ending crappy weather. Next it became cloudy and windy which put him into frenzy mode that put his mouth into overdrive and why he was going to move out of this state when he retired.

I had reached my threshold with him and if tasers were issued then I would have contemplated giving him a jump start. I pulled the patrol car over and stopped. I looked right in his eyes and said " God is trying to please you". Maybe he realized that his unrelenting bitching had gone too far. I drove back to the barracks parked the car and explained to the supervisor that I never would ride with Mr Downer again. He just smiled at me and said that I had lasted longer than any of his previous partners.

Lol, thanks FO - that made me chuckle!

In the military we have a pretty good handle on "griping", actually I really only start getting worried when my troops aren't complaining ;) But, yeah, dealing with someone who is a perpetual downer is exhausting (and can be toxic). I, too, appreciate the positive vibes around here!

I'm not a morning person per se, but it helps to have a good cup of coffee and a nice sunrise (in that order) :)

Edit - I WILL happily get up early for hunting and fishing ;)

Great story FO :) As I have repeated to my Four(4) kids all throughout their lives - "There are two(2) kinds of people in the World..... those who contribute and those who detract, make good choices as to who you surround yourselves with".
I also favor the simple philosophy of "Be a Doer not a Talker".
Funny that someone apparently from the N/E would be so preoccupied with the weather (something that happens quite frequently, almost daily ;)) Perhaps He was generally a miserable person, I suspect that to be the case. Glad you were able to divorce yourself from him.
I get a kick out of how the weather is again making news here, it is Winter! Why is the cold and snow coming as such a surprise these days? oh well.
I have been quite pleased at the heat being produced by my kerosene heaters but as I'm sure your old "partner" would point out vociferously, they are smelly at times and the fuel is not inexpensive and....... ZZzzzZZZzzzzzzzz (take that!) homemade car battery taser :) works everytime! Ahhhh peace and quiet - warm too!
Oh look it's Snowing! where's my hat?

This is not really relevant to the current topic but I thought that you guys might get a kick out of it. My wife and I read to our kids every night before bed. We picked up a new children's book called "Diary of a worm" a very funny book with great illustrations. It is my 3 year olds new favorite book but she has a little trouble with the title. She calls it "Diarrhea Worm" HaHa! She honestly thinks that's the title and we don't correct her because its just so damn funny. My wife and I cry laughing every time. Kids are awesome.

Current Topic? What current topic:) Great story Jensen :D You and your Wife Enjoy those Great Times, they go by quickly (too quickly)

Funny thing about Mr Downer he was very polite and professional to the general public. He served with with the Army in Viet Nam but never talked about his service, personally I think he had a rough go of it and felt comfortable venting around his peers. I'm sure he had PTSD and it wasn't talked about much back then and help unfortunately wasn't readily available. Hopefully all our men and women who serve today get all the help available if needed for their tremendous sacrifice they made on our behalf.

J81 enjoy your three year old daughter, great time to be a dad to a girl. I have two daughters and it is amazing when they reach a certain age they become so smart and I became so dumb. It's like you put them to bed and kiss them goodnight and I'm their knight in shining armor and in the morning it's like the bitch ferry paid them a visit and I became the village idiot! Nah it's not that bad, but they do act much older than their age earlier and peer pressure is very hard to compete with.
So get all your points made now and drill into them what is good and what is bad and tell her repeatedly how smart you and your wife are.
I was fortunate my daughters turn out great and did well in school. When they hit age 18-19 Dad and Mom got smart again. Good luck my friend!
