Para 3 in December CONFIRMED!

I don't like the Miltarys because of the short blade to handle ratio.

Also I won't own a knife with a finger choil. So my hope is that makers get with a good design (like the Shiros) and get as much blade out of the handle package. After all, isn't that why we carry folders instead of fixed blades?

Although my thoughts on what you said are pretty much dead on with stabman, you're definitely entitled to your opinion. :D I was just thinking about all the Spyderco greats you might be missing out on because of your aversion to choils and the premium you place on blade-to-handle ratio...

-Manix 2
-Native
-Military, which you already mentioned.

-Urban

...that's a lot of people who's opinions you might be chaffing/stepping on. ;)

Love the PM2, so will undoubtedly wind up owning one of these, but will probably wait for the Sprints/Exclusives to hit.

I'd just like to know if there will be a DLC version and if so how soon. I'd like to know before I purchase the initial offering.

Hard to tell if it's just shorter or sized down overall. May try to compare width based on pivot screw diameter, maybe not.:D too much work.

Thanks man! Some people here have no concept of a knife with blade to handle ratio because they never have owned one.

It makes no sense to have a long grip and short blade. To me that defeats the pupose of a "pocket" knife. One should want the most cutting length into a small package.

My daily uses require 0.5"-2" of blade. Take away the cutting an apple into slices and that number is much closer to the 0.5" of required blade length. Really, for me, I'll take the smallest package I can get where I get a good grip. That is a knife with a choil. The Chaparral is a perfect size. If that knife were offered in a compression lock, I would have my grail. The back lock is more than functional enough, it's just not near as fun to use as the compression lock. A PM3 with a 2.65" or so cutting length and 3" blade length and a handle that's just big enough for 4 fingers using the choil is a really ideal knife for how I use and carry a knife daily. I'm sure my uses won't be universal to everyone.

I love my pm2's as well, probably my favorite knife. That being said, it's not my most carried. I mostly carry a Delica or something of similar size and weight, since most of my cutting tasks are very basic and having a small blade and thin grind is best. Para 3 may become my most carried, shrunken down version of my favorite knife, in a very edc friendly package.

Would like to request one in lc2000n please 😎

Really like to have a smaller pm2 build with no corrosion. Would be so nice.

My jade para 2 m4 is my favorite spyderco so far.

It's clear now that it has a rivet of some kind...I love it but I won't buy a riveted scale knife that's for sure! Damn shame!

Not a rivet. It's the stepped stop pin like some of the Militarys now have.

You either don't know what Handle to blade ratio means or you don't know these designs.

Wrong and wrong.

I own knives that have almost the same length of blade as handle...so what.
Doesn't make it a better knife.

As for what one "should want", your personal preference does not a fact make.
My dad, for instance, would like a longer handle on some of his folders compared to the blade, as he wants a knife with the control and leverage of a large handle, while not getting the fired from his job that a longer blade would bring. ;)

Scalpels have a long handle in comparison to the blade for the same reason; control.
Many carving knives have longer handles than blades, and the folding versions of them would benefit from that as well.

Exactly.

But we are not talking about whittlers here. You want a whittler then get a whittlin' knife.

Similar for me. Anything over 3 inch blade length starts becoming more job specific and less universally useful the longer it gets.
I figure those concerned with blade/handle ratios are mostly about looks, rather than use.

Here are the full specifications if you have not seen them yet.
