I'm sorry I have been tardy on posting my thoughts on the Salsa which Dave has so generously sent around the country for reviews.
My review has been included in the Salsa journal.

Pass Around Salsa Journal:

Salsa arrives from Brandon in Honolulu.
I immediately notice the clip design. It looks like the clip should be reversible. I unscrew the clip screws and can't figure out how the clip comes out. Finally I realize that the washer between the two scales is what's actually holding the clip in place. I carefully remove that spacer/washer, which was not an easy task. The clip gets reversed, but getting that spacer/washer back in is a real pain the butt. Not obvious or easy to do. Although it does win style points!

Parting Thoughts:
I didn't have a whole lot of time to play with the Salsa. I also wasn't brave enough to carry it for fear of loosing it or getting it unduly damaged. I did spend quite a bit of time playing with it while at my computer. My major complaint would be that the compression lock set-up is not very lefty friendly. I have no problem with one-handed closing right handed, but left handed its worse than a liner lock! This is my first time operating the compression lock, and I suppose closing the knife is a secondary task, however, I am a sit in front of the computer kind of knife geek so one handed opening and closing is important to me. On a somewhat related note, as of a year ago, or whenever the Spyderco Gunting came out, I had emailed with Bram Frank about the compression lock. It seemed that at that time there was little consensus as to how a right handed or left handed configuration would be. In other words at that time some models were coming out with the lock on one side and others on the other side. This implied to me that the lock was somewhat ambidextrous. However I didn't find this to be the case.
On a high note, I really like the strength with which the détente grabs the blade. The little notch on the tang that allows the détente to ride in more smoothly is also a very nice touch that is very obvious, but I had not seen before.
I pass this knife on to Danelle with the clip configured for a lefty so she can have some enjoyment switching it back

Good luck little Salsa!
