Passaround

NEXT!!

The SHBA is O-fishally in transit - Enjoy, Jason! :D

Thanks, Dave - It was a pleasure!!

Ooooooo Momma!!!! I can't wait! This should be good.....better than good even! This should be educational, inspirational, and down right dismal when the time comes to send it on its way.

Okay, I got a package slip the day before I left for Blade... After a long weekend at the PO, I got it in hand on Monday.

It really is one SWEET blade -- now I know what all the fuss is about. The smooth handles feel awesome, very comfortable.

I did more fondling / handling than hard use, but I think i was able to determine what a blade like this would be worth to me -- and wether i should embark on that VERY difficult task of finding one!

It is quite different than the BATAC, to say the least. But I'm not ready to say it's better. It's smaller for sure, therefore a little more useful for some things. I guess the biggest surprise for me was the weight of this sucker -- she's one heavy little knife! That makes her a decent chopper -- actually a pretty good chopper for a knife this small. Other than chopping, I was hard pressed to find something she would do better for me than my other small blades. However, with a reprofiled thinner edge, I'm sure she'd make a good skinner too.

I think the verdict for me is this --- I'd love to have one, but just cannot justify paying the going price for one (IF i could even find one.) I'd never pass a good deal on one, but I'm probably not going to start the quest for it either. My Euro 4 and the BATAC are dueling it out to see which one will be the small utility / work / camp blade. Honestly, the Ratmandu keeps trying to sneek into the competition, and if it were INFI it might just win.

But Props to the SHBA  She's a fine blade and would be a great addition to any collection. A HUGE thanks to Mulder for this passaround -- I'm extremely grateful to have had the chance to test one of the most sought after busses

She's going out the door to DR Bill this afternoon :D

First off this knife is build like a friggin' tank. It is extremely solid. I love the grip and especially how secure my hands feel gripping it. No slipping on this baby eh. Easy to conceal and feels awesome in all the various grips I use. Choke back on the handle and it does a great job on light chopping and preparing fuzz sticks and kinlin for a fire.It battoned easily into my test mediums and pried with ease. (I swear i hear it laugh at me and my BATAC). I did some test thrusts into some woode and the penetration was excellent. The handle really sucks your hand in so I do not fear my hand slipping doing thrusts.

Now it's time to throw this baby... And where did I but that cinder block? :p Just foolin' Mulder. Put the .45 down man. I'd have to say though that this baby is handle heavy and would need to be thrown to adjust for that. And if you ever did have to throw it it would totally destroy anything it hit regardless of what part hit due to its heft.

I really like how the tip on this knife is much more acute than my BATAC but due to its thickness it maitains an extremely tough tip.

Then, at the end of my play day with it, I used it in the kitichen. I was throughly surprised at how well it performed. For such a thick blade it sliced veggies and such super, super thin with ease.

This is just an awesome all around knife. Definitely the kind I would like to have if I could only have one. Now I need one. Good luck huh.

I'm just going to admire it a little more then its off to the next Hog. Sorry for my quick review delay. Anyway, thanks again Mulder for letting me try out this baby.

WOOHOO!! Only a couple more weeks and I'll get to play with it! Can hardly wait after reading the updates!!
