Quick Question about potential PIF.
I have a few low end knives that I was considering posting (I know at least one folder and fixed blade) and wondered if they would be useful to newer knife makers. I thought maybe they would be good for practicing heat treating, blade coating, etching, handle work, grinding?, etc. Being low quality knives (Frost Cutlery or Bud K) and didn't think they would be worth PIF to someone for actual work/carry. Maybe they would be a good source of practice without wasting good materials?
I would like to contribute something though, so I thought I would be okay to ask here instead of starting a new thread.
There's always a good use for a knife, be it through normal use or practicing etching, coating, modifying, etc. I read that stainless steels are harder to HT, and you won't yield good results unless you have the proper equipment and do it properly. Even for those that are not a knife maker in the works, however, it'd be awesome for somebody looking to practice sharpening.
Again, there are plenty good uses for any sort of knife, be it a budget display knife often sold at flea markets, a gas station special, etc.
Somebody out there would love the chance, and you can put up just about anything you want, in this thread. Go for it!

Also, Happy Veterans Day!
