Hey, just pass it up on top of the bed, and I'll take a look at it.

LMAO, If only it were that easy :D

Im in Philly.

HP said they would fix it and it would cost between 100-200 bucks. Which i would have done because its a great laptop, But there is just too too many files on it that i wouldnt want them to see, personal info, security clearance info, pictures, places i have been... And yea... If i could delete the hard drive first id have sent it out or sold it as parts already.... but as it stands its just an expensive paper weight.

Down on the bottom left there is a drop menu whereby you can change the color of the background and type.
in reverse collors I believe it says "vb bold gray" or some such.....

Thank you superpaco, that was ........... Frustrating to say the least. Issue resolved, please carry on. 100 cool points to superpaco ;).

Hey man, I thought most CPUs were plugins? No soldering necessary. You can very carefully take your laptop apart and install it yourself. My suggestion is to use non-magnetized new tools, and if you want, sterile non powdered nitrile/latex gloves. Some people talk about contaminants and such but to be honest when you pop off the lid of a laptop or pc you just don't want to smack anything, get any grease or oil on the boards, or magnetize anything.

If it's a plugin of any sort, it's always relatively simply. Like cooking, take it slow and watch what you're doing. I'll bet you can even google the process.

Or you can take it to a local repair shop after removing the hard drive. They can set up dummy HDs to test that the CPU works. I had a jightmare with my notebook. A third party charger blew the cables rather than the motherboard or AC jack, so I have to figure out how to replace all that jazz.

Just keeping everyone updated. I know I said today or Tuesday by the latest, so everything will be on it's way tomorrow(Tuesday) for sure.
I am shipping it all first class because that's the best(and cheapest) route for me at the moment.
The watch for sure will have a tracking number(because of value on it), the lanyards may as well, but also may not(depends on how much it'll cost with tracking numbers).
I'm assuming it should all be in everyone's hands by the end of the week(Saturday), but if the Post Office is still being difficult and slow, it could be early next week.
But I just wanted to give Ranger, Lobo, Jjoanty, and ALLHSS a heads up(I also emailed all of you) that your stuff will be in the hands of the USPS tomorrow. =]
Enjoy!

Thanks again for your patience,
Jessie

Little knife someone gave me long ago. Never used it. It's never been sharpened either. I recently found it in a box cleaning the house. Not trying to post junk but here it is. Haha but great shelf knife I guess. Don't expect anyone to claim, but if someone wants it.

Yea i might give it a try eventually, it looks like there are these adapters, or cables... dont know what to call it...that i can use to get the stuff off the hard drive without it even turning on. I think ill try that and get the hard drive cleaned and then id sell it for parts or trade it out or something. Heck i might be able to sell the thing for parts and get me another knife.

Even a 50 dollar knife is better than an 800 dollar laptop collecting dust to me.

When the laptop stopped working i got me this desktop. I dont really care to go back to laptop now. but hate seeing 800 dollars collecting dust.

Also Whet, got the Bushlore. Impressions - Great. Came sharp but I put my own edge on it. The finish was good. Was comfortable in my hands IMO. The sheath was very high quality (worth the money itself). I batoned a lot of wood with it for fueling my lunch fire. Maybe 30-45 min? There was a slight roll but being 1075 all I had to do was strop it a few times and it was pretty much gone. Well worth the 36 dollars. I'd say it would stand a chance against some higher end bushies. I may do some custom work to it but it came perfectly functional. I'd go for it again.

I'm the opposite. Had my lovely Asus laptop, that junk happened and not even the repair shop could fix it apparently, so I bought a desktop...and it hardly gets used because I like portability. I can't take the desktop with me anywhere, and I do all my bills/work/transactions on my phone. I guess it's about time I made the phone a hotspot though.

I'm on the outskirts of Philly (Bristol). .I'm no master of computers, but I'm the family tech support, and I've done plenty of parts repair. Email me the details and I'll look into the HP stuff
Worst comes to worst, we can find a spare HP harddrive on ebay to stick in there for the repair thru HP, then pop your real one back in

Just saw where you got the desktop now....there's options to turn the laptop hard drive into a portable USB drive. No loss of security or sensitive data. I'll help out where I'm able (and if I did any repairs I'll do in your presence so you have no worries of anyone peeking at your data)

I dumped mine on an external, then wiped my notebook hard drive. I had literally everything saved for all my accounts, logins etc. Plus I'm really weird about people looking at my family and friends in photos. The girl at the counter acted like I had a massive stash of porn or pirated software lol. I guess people can't want privacy simply for the sake of privacy anymore.

Thanks man!! DId you email me? I just got an email about this but im not sure from what screen name.

And sounds good man, if i can get the info off this hard drive, then i wouldnt much care what happened with it, so if i can do either hooking it to my desktop, or replacing the hard drive for another used one that would be great. During daylight tomorrow i will see if i can open it up and see whats what, I have a box somewhere with laptops parts in it, but hell i dont even know what type of laptop they go to LMAO, My wife's old job had a box of random computer stuff, said to be working that they didnt need so she brought it home to see if i could do something with the stuff, but im not that tech savvy guy LMAO

No problem. I enjoy this sort of thing.
Sent a second about 20 minutes ago.
No worries about when you reply. I tend to sleep in a bit, when I can, so I probably won't be able to reply until around noon, myself.

Thanks Man,

For now I know the model is a HP DV7 - 4069wm

I have no idea what it sells for now, I paid 800 back in 2010 from a popular electronic store, then it was a newly released model... or at least thats what i was told when i bought it for 800 LMAO

Prices for things never really made sense, too often. Sometimes, it sells used for what it does new. Other times, it sells broken for more than it does functional and in good shape. Etcetera.
All right, so it definitely uses a SATA connection. Just need to quickly check to see what your desktop uses or has. As to not clog up the thread, I'll try to keep any more talk of it in email.
First made available on August 2, 2010. I'd say it was a newly released model when you bought it! :p
