He is likely busy, we can continue with knife related discussion and hopefully some PIF items will be offered until he can check back in.

Given how popular the Rat has been here, what do you favor for $60 and under, if anything? I love the Rat 1, and the Tenacious, and the Cold Steel American Lawman. And am gaining a great appreciation for the Svord Peasant and the Opinel. Anything else in that range that compares?

Esee Zancudo (priced around $25 but you can't get them shipped for under ~$33), for under $60 knives tho my favorite would be a used mini-grip (very easy to find under $60), a VG-10 or salt dragonfly, either size rat or a multi blade SAK.

Sorry I've been busy all night, if you want to start a new one I'll be up a little longer tonight to close this or we can wait till 1500 and start the new one in the morning. I'm good with either.

Thanks for making this one great

Have you tried a Mercotor, Douk Douk or Aitor Castor? either one is under $25.

Loonybin, I think my sweet spot is the PM, full Grip size range. I love and carry large knives, but they gotta be special and uber light to make it into my EDC, cause I'm trading negative reactions for a longer blade length.

I'll tell you I am a huge fan of the SERE 2000, and my Rat has kinda dulled that craving lol. How much larger is the Bone Collector over the Grip?
The Bone Collector and the Grip are the same size.
If you like the 3.4 - 3.6" blade range (the Grip, BC, Presidio, PM, etc.), then look at the 950 Rift It's the smaller brother of the Contego and a very sturdy knife.

As for this thread, I have a couple more things to offer, but this is the middle of the rut, so my free time is spent getting ready to hunt. I'll put something up on Sunday... or earlier if I'm lucky tagging a deer on Friday.

also not sure how into traditionals you are but I've been seeing Boker Tree New stockmans with C75 steel for under $25.

Me as well, regarding the rut. Good luck!

You can find Spyderco Natives for ~$60 sometimes. That's my pick.

Lots of Condor knives, Cold Steel Bushman and Pocket Bushman.

Don't forget the HIGONOKAMI.

The douk douk not only compares but maybe even outperforms..

Anything in KABARs "Heavy Chopper" lineup

But what I personally like about this thread isn't the rare big ticket items (though they're more than generous and definitely generate a lot of excitement) but the general spirit of "hey I got this thing it's valuable for use, maybe not a collector piece but I'm sure someone would get a kick out of it and I honestly don't need it" lol. That was a mouthful. Lol. Anyways that's what I saw in the beginning and it'd be good to see it again.
Sounds like my kabar lhb that went to nyoutdoors, it'll be awhile before I Can get it out though.

That one basically "itemed Me out", offering up one of my heavy use fixed blades was basically the biggest gesture I could make and Cant be topped from me.

I think its Worth mentioning that the spirit is obviously still alive. Someone tried starting a PIF over in the Becker sub forum, which is cool but I honestly would've rathered seen them join us over here.

I hope this keeps on going, once I get a job I can definitely play more, I'll just start offering cheap knives like the peasant and douk douk; things I can afford once that cash flow starts coming in

Alright peeps, Yojimbo 2 or Ritter Grip/Mini-Grip?

Being that I'm sure you have your favorite EDC users already I'm gonna say the Yojimbo, now if you were looking for a good EDC I would say Ritter mini all the way but the Yojimbo is so different, if you've got a good EDC covered branch out and go a little crazy.
