Since I keep them in the same place and have to go into my storage to get the Opinels anyway, anyone want a CS Kudu?

Yes these are cheap knives, but I like them as hard use beaters because they have long blades, are easy to sharpen, hold an edge fairly well and also the locking system, once you get used to it, is, for me, nifty.

These are knives you can feel good about keeping in a toolbox, car, or for any situation where they might get beat on, and not feel bad about it. I like having at least one go-to model for that.

I have a friend I am going to give a knife to this golf season, and I think it would be a good introduction to traditionals, but I feel like I have attempted to claim many things. If you want it to go to someone new, then that's okay.

I think we have a winner! One thing though, will he mind that the blade is bent? It does kind of detract from the "elegance" of it (I think the smooth white bone looks very "elegant" though).

!I'm not claiming one at all!

I've always wondered. Is it just a back lock without a place to press? Does the ring bother your grip in hand at all?

Thanks man, I just like spreading the joy of Opinel. They are cheap knives that are by no means cheaply made. Very quality stuff in my opinion and great to have around.

Yeah, so many people here love them. I frequent the traditional forum and they are a mainstay there. They look good as projects too

There is a post about making an Opinel a "Tactical" knife. I have never had or even held an Opinel, but that seems like it would be a pretty cool project to undertake.

People talk about them so much but I just don't get the attraction. Maybe I have to experience it myself, I dunno

Yeah I know, me too. I finally got the Cryo that so many people talked about, and I was very impressed with it. Maybe the Opinel is the same. Along with the Mora... another one I have to try. Oh man my have to buy list is getting longer

I have only used mine for some light food work, but I second the Mora.

Makes a bit of noise but other than that, not really. And you can put a finger through it.

There's a metal plate and the lock engages through it. You pull the ring and it pulls the metal plate away from the blade enough to close it. So yeah I guess it is like a back lock.

I like how these threads have led some to products they wouldn't otherwise try. I never would have picked up a Svord Peasant prior to the PIF threads, now it is becoming one of my favorites.

I got one of those after I asked about favorite cheap knives a few months back. I really should carry it more, it's pretty much just been stored since I got it.

Yep, my orange one (well I'd call it red) just arrived Wednesday, haven't done more than play with it yet (I'm gonna either mount a clip using those push-in threaded inserts I just got, or get a clip-on sheath before I carry it) but it sure is interesting.

Moras rock for true users. To me, they have absolutely zero cool/nice factor but they work.

C_K let me know if you figure out a way to do this, in my opinion the only thing this knife really needs is a pocket clip, but i can't figure out a way to make it happen. RemyKaze sent me a link to a website that has custom scales with clips, but i am hoping there is a way to do this with a standard version.

I have a #8 (I think) Opinel, that I like well enough, but I cut myself pretty good on it first time I handled it, seems like I slipped my finger up on the blade with no guard there. So there is a bit of hesitation for me with them. That and it is moist enough here in winter, and humid enough in the summer it binds too much for my tastes.

Now, the Moras, those are totally different, I adore the Craftsman Triflex knives I have and they are my A-1 deer butchering (not dressing) knifes. I still have a Bushcraft on the way sometime, so I am curious how it will do also.

Ok guys time for my next PiF:

Today I'm offering a black handle PE CRKT drifter, as sad as it is this is the knife that really started my collecting, before I was really into knives I carried this knife every day for years and I had one of ever option (black, grey, SS and the tiger stripe blade SRM version).
This particular one is the last one I haven't lost or given away and its slightly modified- this was the first blade I ever cut a wave in* for practice

* all drifters are tip-down only so the wave is NOT usable, it was done only for practice actually cutting into a blade. (Now if you want to loose pocket carry, or mout a tip-up clip it would work then)

*Please note I can not ship till a week from Monday.

It is nice to hear the opinions on new knives tried out by new owners. It's got me really looking into either a Openial or a Svord Peasant. At this point I think I'm leaning more towards the Svord Peasant because I really like the simplicity of the design.

You got it man. Do you think there's any chance of carrying tip-up? Or is that idea to far fetched since its a FF? It'll feel weird modifying a knife for tip-down!

I was introduced to Mora knives through this thread after I claimed NikkiR's.
They are great knives, especialy for the price. The only thing better than a Mora? A custom Mora!

BB6tuner, which one do you want? Email me your address, and I will buy the chosen knife today or tomorrow.

Woah woah, you are really gonna buy one brand new? Thank you so much!
And I think I will go with the Kershaw Chill.
I'll send you my address too.
Thanks again!
