I have claimed more than i have payed forward and i hope none of you feel that i am taking advantage of the thread. It seems like talking about whats fair and creating rules is kind of what brought an end to the other threads. Just my two cents.![]()
I think there are still some items available if I've been paying attention, I think a buck smidgen (unsure) and a couple bundles of high end fire starting material (not sure what else to call it) oh, and a pair of plyers
My Buck is still availiable for anyone to claim![]()
Your family will find you under a bridge with nothing but a box full of Opinel's and 4 days' growth on your face...your clothing ragged, they'll take you downtown to a nice clean place where the doors lock from behind a desk where the overweight nurse sits all night reading romance novels in her glass cage....
Been wanting to check those and the true French Laguiole knives. Speaking of work knives, everyone should have a Svord Peasant! Vastly prefer it over an Opinel. I want to say the steel is L6, which takes an extremely sharp edge.First of all, Remy- get yourself another old/new school blade. I have Nieto's Navaja (I think it's the mdel 420 in medium size), which is a modern (let's say gentleman's folder) take on classical Spanish design (let's not go into details of brigands' knives, infamy and carraca sound... suffice to say, it is rumoured to have inspired both Bowie and toothpick designs).
What impressed me about Opinels was almost weightless feel when handling one- as if they were balsa, and had some sort of plastic 'training' blade. They weigh next to nthing, fit your hand perfectly (so far, I've only seriously played with gardener's #8 I bought for a best friend- unfortunately, she didn't cross my palm witha piece of copper, as I've told her she should do- and the 'curse' struck*). Annoyingly addictive, and comfortable, little knives- I'm enamoured by some cheap Chinese piece of steel, but they remind you why a knife is a tool, and as tool, one can really feel them as 'integral' and as unconspicious, part of EDC-ing... Weird feeling- I thought I shouldn't like them, but have no choice but to like them.
* if by 'curse' one could mean, I did something very stupid and she's now mad at me![]()
Not no more he isn't,I'm hookin' him up with my poor neglected Wave.![]()
