SO i have been playing with this spyderco A LOT, and i never put a whole lot of thought into folders but this thing is making me really want to get another great folder, hell my wife seen it, i tried to hide it from her cause she loves purple but man she found it, tried to take it.. but i got it back LMAO, but when i get the Rat-1 I will pass her the spyderco because she really loves it, and i really lover her :)

But this folder has me considering trading a Busse/kin to get me a real good folder. Something like a strider or nice ZT/hinderer design folder.

This thread is awesome, the people are awesome, just good stuff all around!! I got a few more things to post up for you guys but honestly it will be a little while, i can show you guys the receipt i spent $95.15 in shipping fees this morning so I have to wait to get paid before i start shipping more boxes out.

I'm almost feelin guilty for the years of folder collecting costs you're going to incur, but I should be able to show off a few decent folders for you if you make the hour trip west to my area.

I also just noticed the sheer number of items worldwood has given away (plus the hidden PM knife he offered me!) Let's get this man a folder or two!

What type of Spyderco was it that you've been playing with? I might have missed that part since this thread is very hard to keep up with. I'd be happy to pay forward the modded Tenacious from my for sale thread. Maybe something else?

The Opinel in question:

It's a No. 7, Carbon, and it has a bit of character because I did EDC it for a bit. The dimples on the handle are from a puppy that got ahold of it for moment when I wasn't looking :D

Clockman claimed it, bro. Dunno if he still wants it.

Did some google-ing, the svord peasant looks great, only question, how does the blade lock if at all? do you keep the blade in place by having your hand on the little tail-thing-a-muh-jig on the end of the blade?

It's a friction folder, at least as secure as a framelock when being held tightly.

This is my opinel standing on a jade chicken with my girly tea cup in the backround and a quarter next to the jade chicken to scale the jade chicken so the jade chicken can scale the knife (or just look at the quarter and the knife) not offering it, just inspired to share.

If no one else wants it, may I have the Opinel ? I've never had one, and my son's have been wanting to whittle with me. But I only have 2 knives that seem to fit for the task. I have a Vic Tinker, and a Colonial Forest Master. I was thinking my oldest might enjoy an Opinel as his first knife.
I can offer a sharpening stone, or a CRKT Ryan to pay it forward if anyone is interested.

I purchased some user knives to practice freehand with so I have an Opinel #8 carbon and an Opinel #6 in stainless. These two are yours if you want them. PM or email me name and shipping address! :D

They both are good user knives and very usable. The metal piece on the #8 is loose, it moves side to side and can block the knife from closing and not sure how you could fix it but sure someone here does. I am not an Opinel expert!

EDIT: In the pic just posted by 155440, the metal piece that says "No. 8" is the piece that I am referring to as being loose so you can turn it!

I'm going to say this again because its relevant.

I EDC an Opinel #9. EDC means EDC.. I don't carry it sometimes, I don't rotate it with other knives... I carry it ALL THE TIME, EVERY DAY. The thing lives in my left front pocket, underneath a banana for retention.

If you don't have an Opinel, you need an Opinel. Again, I recommend a #9.

I don't know about ask these dainty little small numbers but NOTHING makes a sandwich like a #9 does. It seems like it was just made for gettin' in the mayonnaise jar, or peanut butter for that fact.

If you don't have one, you NEED one!!

Also if yours is not long enough to be your eatin' knife, then you're missing out on a HUGE part of what is so amazing about these little knives.

Food prep and an Opinel, its kind of a big deal...

Plus, its French, im French; we were kind of made for each other :) MDR! (Google that)

I still want your Opinel, Gadget. It seem to have quite a bit of character on the handle and the blade.

The marks on the handle are unique(cute). I've wanted to get an Opinel for a while but just never did. Thanks for the chance to get one!

Also, I've removed the Locking collar and snugged up the pivot pin impossibly tight, it is a much stronger knife this way and a true friction folder..

STV so with an opinel and Breesus, can you take on pretty much anything?

(inside joke from previous threads, stvpourciau hopefully remembers)

That forest master boyscout knife a "darn" fine pattern. I have one myself but is literally falling apart. Very loose..
