I purchased some user knives to practice freehand with so I have an Opinel #8 carbon and an Opinel #6 in stainless. These two are yours if you want them. PM or email me name and shipping address! :D

They both are good user knives and very usable. The metal piece on the #8 is loose, it moves side to side and can block the knife from closing and not sure how you could fix it but sure someone here does. I am not an Opinel expert!

EDIT: In the pic just posted by 155440, the metal piece that says "No. 8" is the piece that I am referring to as being loose so you can turn it!
Hi - I'd love to have the #6 stainless. Have a friend I've been trying to convince about opinels.

Thank you sir_Mike.
I tried to message you, but it won't let me.

It's a friction folder, at least as secure as a framelock when being held tightly.

Also, I own a svord peasant.

It is as well a great little knife.

NOT better than an Opinel for EDC, stubby little blade, but a helluva work knife.

I carry the Peasant with me when I know in gunna be working hard. I use it on all the really rough dirty stuff and beat the snot out of it (wouldn't wanna mess up my Opinel though its seen its share of dirt too) To give an idea of how rough I am on this knife, it develops rust every time I use it due to sweat, grime, and general lack of care.

At the end of each hard day, I Polish it up with a little bit of toothpaste (removes rust but preserves patina) hit it with a full coat of oil, put it up, and it's always just as ready to go to work when I call on the next time.

It's Also worth noting that I keep it strapped to my "haversack/slingbag, wilderness essentials kit" to call on as a potential "survival" knife. I trust that little thing.

Get Ready ladies and gents I'm heading to photobucket to post up AN EPIC ITEM, fingers on refresh...

I'm crashing. Just gonna say, I'm not closing this thread down unless there is a consensus. If it isn't too cluttered by unclaimed offerings by 1k posts, we can shoot for 2k. Night all.

Up for your guys pleasure is this .....

For real for real I have a lansky system, It's the older model, 3 stones all arkansas I believe comes with coarse medium and fine grit, I only have on rod to mount the stones on (it came with 3) but you can only use on stone at a time anyway. I do ask though that whoever claims it it be their first item claimed, and that they do not already have some sort of sharpening system. Go!

Alright i'm heading off, glad to see you try to pull in some more people allen, take care.

take it easy, when I get a sebenza , or rolex from staying up late , you early birds gonna wish you stayed up a little later. lol

May I inquire- why? The reason I ask is that I was under the impression that carbonne was a bit keener on taking the edge but a bit more 'chippy', and Sandvick stainless edged it a bit in terms of a compromise. The reason I ask is that #8 is most likely to be my next purchase (if another store doesn't get a sheepsfoot sailor's blade with marlin spike earlier than that, and I like those a bit 'oversized' about 3 1/2" ot something like that- another knife I feel I must own, even though I had a knife like that but passed it onto a friend knowing she'd like it)

I have not found the carbon to be chippy at all, even at very thin angles, with the shoulder thinned even more.

It is run a bit softer. Seems to want to roll or dent when very thin.

The Stainless is great too. Gets every bit as sharp, and seems to retain it a bit longer. Both great steels. The carbon just takes on great character, but the stainless does not impart flavor to fruits. So, with how cheap they are, get both!
