Alright you hero's.

I slammed the breaks on stuff today and did something for me :)

I ground my "Strongboy" tribute (I call my version RONIN) and it will be going to heat treat on Monday.

And for you Joe

I will make a metal sheath for it, did I mention I hate making sheaths

Sheath tutorial?!?!? : )

Did I ever tell you my boats name :)

And ...... What's tattooed on my arm and back

The Japanese characters for the word Ronin (Wave Man) which translates to man cast upon the waves ..... Masterless warrior

Very excited to see your piece :)

Joe that is so cool

Phill Hartsfield was a Ronin in the knifemaking world and that is why I picked that name for when I make my version of his Strongboy.

Ben,

I will do a tutorial on how to make them. I need to make a couple to get it down just right. It has been awhile since I made one.

Here is one I carry EDC

Sad thing is I'm selling that boat at the end of the month :(

No worries I have a deposit on Ronin II :)

Adam made me a badazz Ronin. thank you, Adam.
I like your EDC, Adam. Would you prefer a zero grind tho?

I build a Ronin, it's a bit bigger though. : )

Did I ever show you my shirts Joe? :D

It is ZERO on the secondary :)

It depends if it is a 20* angle on 1/8" stock a zero is easier to maintain because the grind height is short

When you get 3/16" or 1/4" stock the grind is much higher and to maintain a true "ZERO" grind you would have to lay the entire grind on a stone and work the entire surface to sharpen it to a true zero grind, good luck with that in the field.

Many take it to almost a zero and put a small appleseed secondary grind. RJ Martin did this.

Phill would take the zero grind and then finish the edge with a buffer on both sides. If you look with a magnifying glass you can see it slightly convex at the point.

IIRC STeven noticed this on the Hartsfield he purchased and mentioned it.

For users to sharpen in the field a tall zero grind knife they usually use a ceramic stick and a leather strop which puts a small convex edge on it.

So I usually put a small apple seed edge on the blade because it is a bit stronger, cutting is still great and allows the user to sharpen in the field much easier and not have to send it back to me to be sharpened

Thanks, Adam!^
Do you have a pic of my Ronin, Adam? I sent it out for a lined Kydex sheath.
OK, Joe?

Thank you, Sir Adam.
There you go, Joe.
This knife feels so good in the hand. Adam made the handle just right for my grip.

Thank you, Joe.
And, thank you for this thread. What a great honor for Phill.
