Photo of the new Mora Garberg full tang

I'm still over here loving the old school, bland, uninspired Frost/Mora with it's 62 hrc edge... ;):foot:

The full tang idea is an interesting departure from what has become known as an iconic knife for good reason.

I'd like to see the grind go higher up on the new knife for better cutting ability but it may already have decent geometry. :foot:

How about they upgrade the Mora Pathfinder.

I really like the design but it was a no go with the partial tang and nylon sheath.

When does a Mora stop being a Mora? When it becomes too heavy and the price starts to match other bushcrafter blades on the market. I suspect this blade will do just that.

Morakniv just posted the info on their Facebook page. Looks like it'll be available with either a nylon or leather sheath, with the MSRP of them being $100 and $110 respectively. That means that you'll probably see street prices between $65-85 for the different offerings.

Hope this will go under $50...

I highly doubt it. I bet its $65+. The Bushcraft Black is going for $55, The Bushcraft Forest for $35. With the full tang, leather sheath, and 3mm blade stock I don't see it going for less than or even equal to the Bushcraft Black.

I like the look of it myself, but I already own a Bushcraft Black and Bushcraft Forest, and they get left behind 99% of the time because I grab my $15 no 1. The Bushcraft is already a heavier knife than I have never needed if I get one of the new knives it will be because I am a Mora fan, not because it is necessary or a good value.

Moras and Victorinox cause me a lot of grief with the wife.

Thanks for the info. Thats basically what I expected based on the description :/.

I was really hoping for a Condor bushlore competitor in the sub $40 market, but that price (~$65-85) it will be completely ignored by me. The whole reason that people love Mora so much (well, most people), is because they offer a great product at an almost unbelievably low price. When you remove the low price, all of a sudden they're competing with a LOT more manufacturers. For the same price you're now competing with Becker, ESEE, and a bunch of other well known manufacturers.

Bk9 or Mora bushcraft; what a dilemma. ;)

At the same time, if it was made by, say, Fällkniven, looking at the specs and price you have to admit that it's pretty reasonable, all told. But it does chafe people's concept of what a Mora is. I think they would have done well to create a new product line that enclosed their premium options so it wouldn't perturb folks so much.

I just noticed it appears to be a stainless blade. I wonder if it will be offered in both SS and carbon?

To be honest, my main blades when camping are the BK9 and a Mora carbon clipper...
I was more comparing the new Mora to the BK16, ESEE 3/4, Tops BOB, etc. Of those, I'd say the BK16 or ESEE 3 are most similar (the ESEE 4 and BOB are both quite a bit thicker). But you're right, the upper price range of the new Mora is roughly what you'd pay for a BK7/BK9.

Its very true. I was looking at the specs before and was typing a comparison to Fallkniven, but then removed it. With the covered full tang, it does very much resemble a scandi ground Fallkniven.

And perhaps people (like me) are somewhat "bent out of shape" because other knives similar to the "normal" Mora (Marttiini, etc) are also very budget friendly, so perhaps we're a bit expectant. I do think a different brand, made by Mora may have been a good option here, especially if they are planning on continuing this trend in the future.

And like others, I for sure do not want this type of mora to displace the originals. That would be a sad sad day if that happened.

I Might have to sell some Moras to buy this Mora, lol. :D
If it was $60-ish (U.S) it might be doable for me, above that is getting iffy. I have an ample supply of knives in this niche already, if it goes up too high i might go for a Becker BK16 instead. I like the Beckers flatgrind but i wish the BK16 was scandi (my preferred grind).

I'd save a few more bones and get Dave's ESEE model, honestly. I'm definitely not paying $65 for that.
