Here is another one that I’ve had for a little while from David. He called this one a hybrid Nessmuk. I can’t remember the exact stats on this one other than the blade steel is 8670 and 3/32” thick. What I will say it’s that it feels fast on the hands and so far love using it.

Not one, but two new arrivals today. The Singing ULU! and a re ground SOG machete, a kind gift from my friend David Mary David Mary . I threw the EDChef in for a scale reference.

The ULU! Was already put to work mincing onion, and cubing potatoes for dinner, and she's a beaut.

Edited to add: Thank you, good sir.
Chef's dream trio....... meat tenderizer included..... lol

I've had this EDChef XL for a few weeks now and it has taken over as my go-to kitchen knife. It's got a wide blade with a thick, rounded spine which tapers quickly down to a thin edge - there is a slight convex from the spine to the edge. The geometry makes it thin enough to glide through most materials but bind slightly in vegetables larger than an onion. This is a worthy trade off as the thick stock gives it enough heft to power through bones and tougher materials.

(That avocado was perfectly ripe and soft, I just wanted to see what the blade could do. It cut through the seed without squashing the rest of it.)

I am impressed with the 15N20 bade. Hard enough to keep a keen edge for days of use but is easy to touch up quickly on brown spyderco ceramics. It grew a patina quickly but hasn't rusted yet despite no oil being used (just wash and dry).

My only suggestion for improvement would be a straighter handle to provide more clearance for my knuckles (see first photo below). This isn't really an impediment as it's easy to choke up on the handle for finer chopping, just a nit-pick (see second pic below).

Again, I am impressed with David's ability to make new designs that fit just perfectly into their niche. This knife is a gem and is a genuine pleasure to use. 20220319_175024.jpg

*Edit to add that the Micarta handles are superb. Perfectly shaped and sculpted to be comfortable in any position and they seem to get gripper when wet. Absolutely spot on.

David used his skills and talents to make it his own but still keep some of the original for me, but without copying it outright.

turned out great David thank you much.

Is there a way to like the whole thread? These are all just beautiful pieces. PM coming to inquire ‘bout some stuff.

Ok, how the $s@# do you send a PM in this establishment?

Just a heads-up: David does not typically abide foul language, even if only implied. You might want to avoid using it in his forum. I'm not trying to chastise you, just thought you should know.

Otherwise, welcome to BF. I'm glad you're taking an interest in David's work. Beware, his knives are addictive.
