Please make a cf calypso jr or the paramilitary in ZDP-189

I'll definitely get one of those caly..
So, the color is set with burgundy? No other colors will be released?

I just got on new graham's wait list for this baby, I can't wait.
Did you email? I used the email address on their site but it didn't seem to work. Does anyone have an email address for NGK please?

[EDIT] Dunno where I found the address before but I found a different one @ newgraham.com that will probably work this time...

still like the grey FRN best.

if the run has to be in burgundy, I think the beadblasted clip is a much better match than the black clip with the gold logo.

I hate bead blasted anything myself. I prefer a smooth clip.

I must confess Carlos is accurate.

There are, in the works, a Burgundy FRN Caly jr in ZDP-189 and a midnight blue FRN Delica in ZDP-189. This permits a more cost effective offering which gives more ELUs an opportunity to try this extra-ordinary Hitachi steel.

Current plans are for one run each of 1200 pcs. Due in the early summer.

Performance in our testing put ZDP in the same range of edge retention as S90V.

What will the hardness be?

Sorry if we missed on the color for some of you. We had to make them different colors to be able to distinguish them from the VG-10 version. There are only so many colors that "might" appeal to the largest audience.

I selected the color and the Sales & Marketing managers selected the pantone.

Somthin' 'bout "leasin' all the people all... ;)

Why not have a single color Spyderco uses for "enhanced" steel versions of all models. IE, blue FRN for any above-standard versions like the coming Delica, maybe another blue FRN model with laminated steel in the future, etc. Then people can hopefully recognize the blue Spyderco as the "up" version. Or whatever color it should be. I personally like the blue.

Calypso Jr.,blue FRN, flat ss clip, tip-up carry, flat grind, no dent.

No dent as in the Boye (?) lock bar dent? I like those myself, on the Delica, Endura, and even Dragonfly.

Carl64, here's a scan from the dealer catalog with infos on the upcoming sprint runs by Spyderco including the ZDP189 models.
(thanks Mr Blonde for the scan)
click on the pic below for the big size :)

Wowzers! That carbon fiber Harpy is on my list now too!

The edge bevel on the Delica looks kind of large and rough. I wonder what the story is on that. The blue pivot bolster/washers are nice, not black like the last blue Delica.

Now it's time for me to back up all those times I said "I should have bought the Walker when they were around."

Thanks for the picture.

Those pictures were fabricated from prototypes previously made and photo manipulation. They were there just to give the customer an idea of what they will generally look like. Color variation is likely so don't carve those pics in stone.

When the production pieces arrive, we'll all know exactly what that variation is going to be.

As I mentioned earlier. We're doing the project so knife aficianados can have an opportunity to try Hitachi's "super steel" at an affordable price. We needed to make them a diffferent color to differentiate the ZDP variants from others of the same pattern. The color was not as important as the difference.

I am definitely glad you/Spyderco are doing this. I have a Fallkniven U2 with a blade made from "super gold powedered steel" or something like that at 64rc. The blade is just a little too small to compare it fairly to other steels, but with two Delicas having diffrent steel I will really be able to know for sure.

Almost anything but black will make me happy. Black is, well, the old black. Bring on FRN handles in blue, burgandy, orange, green, or anything.

Senate, do my eyes deceive me, or does that catalogue page say it is laminated? I may have missed this in this or another thread but are the Delica and CJ going to be laminated ZDP-189? If so what's the 'bread' in the sandwich?
