The Buck blade grinds on the 301 are a turn off. Bored with GEC.

Too true.

We have been told FFG but.. do we have an example? Are they full bellied blades or the current too-thin ones? And is it nail nick or long pull?

Popcorn time! ...as the same old “much ado about nothing” never ending, forum knife blather adds page after page of posts. Another important consideration: yellow delrin will easily keep the final price level way below $100. There’s no forum knife with that traditional scale material.

I'm pretty sure after the maker & Pattern are agreed on. There will be a poll for handle material blade type and all that fun stuff.:)

I had a yellow delrin buck 301. Should have kept it.

You're kind of late to the game, here's 67 pages of how we got to here:

This thread is just for deciding the Buck candidate :D

From my conversation with Buck, the grind will be just as you are hoping, as we ironed out in the other 2018 thread. The nail nick will be up to the forum whether that or a long pull.

In other news:
It's looking like 301 will be the winner of this poll. Even if you add up lock back vs slip joint, the slips have it by 30 votes at the moment.

Thank you for the pictures!

Hoped to see elk or snakewood, but you can't make everybody happy.

I personally do not like the burlap micarta on the knife pictured - it just doesn't look appealing to me... something about too much modern look of the burlap clashing with a traditional pattern.

The materials really are endless. If we could get a decision made, then I would unleash the polls and let everyone fight for materials.

REMINDER!: There are many many many more options than just these three. These were only created for visualization purposes.

If it's an option, and you think enough people might be interested, will you please consider adding polished stag to the poll. I personally think polished stag or polished elk (whichever works best for Buck and cost..) would look awesome on a 301 2 blade. It will keep the knife slim. It might be a tiny bit cheaper than regular stag because Buck could use leftover stag for polishing. The knives might be a bit more uniform in what forum members end up with... people won't feel like they received a good or bad stag example since polished stag is generally similar.

Thanks again for all your work!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've never seen micarta being so 3D-ish; simply stunning. If I were to decide I'd say bring on the materials poll :D (Or 2/3 blade one first; whatever your schedule for the polls is ;) )

I'm afraid to ask, but just how much extra do you estimate copper would cost?

Blue burlap micarta (or similar) with copper bolsters/liner would be stunning and unique...although I did get the idea from a 532 (in copper and blue carbon fiber) I saw while researching the pattern.

Hey SK, in case the options are too many for a poll here(I think BF maxes out at 10?) a google-form would be easy to setup with as many options as you have ;) If there's another way to add more options here consider this post non-existent :P

And now for something completely different (I think), what about the shield? Custom or stock?
