The 501 is the most recent photo I postedCan't believe the popularity of the 501. I am normally totally on board with the knife tastes of my fellow porch members but I really don't like that pattern one bit. Compared to the beautiful lines of the two clip point lock backs at the bottom of the picture, its not even close to them. I keep having to re-check the photo - the 501 that people are voting on is the drop point one immediately above the stockman, right?

I completely get what you're saying. As someone who recently sold all their stockmans after figuring the pattern is just not for me I'd be out if that was the choice whereas someone who voted stockman might still get a lockback. Not sure if there is a way to do ranked choice voting though. This poll/thread makes me curious. Which are there more of amongst us, between:
Stockman guys that are OK with a single blade lockback (a BF Buck for this purpose)
Or
Single blade guys that are OK with a multi blade stockman.
I’m quite partial to single blades, even more so lockbacks. That said, I think we should go with whatever pattern the majority of people would be most “OK” with, since there is no way to please us all (hence my thought process above)![]()
I agree. The 501 is not in line with my tastes. It looks like a gas station knife or a corporate promotional knife. I hate to say it but cheap is the what comes to mind...definitely sticking to the 301.
I'll get even better photos later. Feast those eyes....

I’m out on a 501, in on a 301 in that burlap though!
Not a fan of acrylic...
If snakewood is an option I think that would fit well will prior BF knives. C'mon guys and gals, we had synthetic covers last year, please not again this year.
is a consequence of the pattern's popularity, I can't displace those concerns.I agree. The 501 is not in line with my tastes. It looks like a gas station knife or a corporate promotional knife. I hate to say it but cheap is the what comes to mind...definitely sticking to the 301.
Excellent. You really are pushing ahead on this. I also know that it seems that there is no dealer willing to take on a GEC. So it looks like the forum knife will be a Buck and I appreciate your willingness to take on this responsibility. I can live with that.Looks like we're going to have to run a secondary poll pitting the 301 and 501 head to head. I'm working on getting some estimate pricing for a 301 and 501 with nickel silver bolsters, CPM-154, and the burlap micarta, just to give everyone more fodder and an idea what costs will look like. I'm hoping you will be pleasantly surprised, but I'll wait to hear from Buck before I count my chickens.
