Poll: Have you ever had a ZT knife fail on you?

Have you ever had a ZT knife fail on you?

  • Yes

  • No

Results are only viewable after voting.
So far, 10% of pollsters asserted that they have experienced lock failure from ZT knives.

This means 100 out of every 1000 will experience failure. This should warrant a full recall of all ZT knives. User safety is paramount.

Additionally, some of the pollsters who stated "no" have never even tried the spine tap test. Thus, there could be thousands more faulty ZT knives than this poll even suggests.

Thank you for posting this data.

This poll is far from hard science on the failure rate of their knives and makes your calls to action absurd. Here is why.

Say one of the yes votes had only one ZT and it failed. The second had 15 different ZT's with only 2 failing and then everyone else have had around 2-10 different knives and only one failing each. Then say that each of the 60 folks that said no had anywhere between 1 and 20 all without failing. That would make it a bit less than the 1 in 10 failure rate which you purport, no?

PS. A quote from a different thread I've read today made me think of your few posts here and the dozens in your other ZT thread. (Which I've asked you a question in which I think you've skipped over. :()

"Generally, if I don’t like something or think it’s useless, I let it go—unless there is some compelling reason not to."

PPS. What do you think of their bearing systems?

What if one of the yes's had only one ZT and it failed. The second had 15 different ZT's with only 2 failing and then everyone else have had around 5-10 different knives and only one failing each. Then say that each of the 60 folks that said no had anywhere between 1 and 20 all without failing. That would make it a bit less than the 1 in 10 failure rate which you purport, no?

So then you believe this poll is worthless? I'm not the one who made this poll, sir.

I enjoy bearing systems.

No, it is not worthless. I think that treating as hard science (which your calls to action seem to imply you do) is as foolish as treating a YouTube review as gospel.

To me, it says that the vast majority of ZT users are happy with their knives and have no issues.

You made a ludicrous extrapolation from this casual data. Get real. 10% lock failure from this poll? Get a life. Or better still, get an education. As I say, ZT to me is horrible. I have no love for it.

I'm just extrapolating from the results of the poll. That's what you do with polls!

You call me dumb, but you are defending knives that fail 10 percent of the time.

Zero failures in light to moderate use of ZT (or actually any Kershaw either) ! :)

But , I have Cold Steel for the "hard use" . ;)

Nope, but I'm surprised my 0562CF didn't fail with only about 25% lockup. I even spine whacked the hell out of it for about 5 minutes straight one time and could not get it to. My 0452 seems pretty stout though.

So you think that everyone that voted only has one ZT knife that they are basing their vote on? That's the only way that your conclusion of a 10% fail rate would be accurate.

Look to the posts in this thread alone and it is clear how wrong that assumption is.

I didn't make this poll. You admit it's worthless?

I've answered that question already. See the post of mine I quoted above.

Would you do me a kindness and answer the questions posed to you? Here and in the other thread?

I was only going to vote but after seeing your comment was compelled to make a statement.

I have 6 ZTs. The Zero Tolerance 0450FCZDP knife closed with the tiniest amt of pressure on the back of the blade, and left a hole in my non knife hand which was trying to catch the blade before it took three fingers off. The knife was sent back to ZT where they worked on it under warranty and after testing it, I opened and closed it at least 100 times, it closed just a couple more times using the exact same pressure. As the knife broke in, flipping it hard, it stopped closing improperly and I kept the knife.

I don't know why anyone is protecting ZT. Do you work there or own stock?

I don't know why anyone is bashing ZT. I'm sure that ZT builds pretty good knives, and 2 of the 6 that I own I bought after the issue. I'm sure this happens to other brands.

They are trying to defend their collection.
