Hey Guy, a few questions about the GSO-4.1 pre-order. Is the pre-order held in limited quantities or does it have a due date? Will it be CPM-3V and M390 only or is there also a option for Elmax?

Cheers.

I will probably just set this preorder to a limit of 4 per customer. I'm not trying to create a big secondary market, after the sale is over. If the preorder starts this coming Friday, November 2nd, I will let the store open until Sunday, November 11th. Then I'll know exactly how many knives I need and I'll get steel moving on Monday, November 12th. That should get them rolling into people's hands just before Christmas.

Right now it is looking like the options will be CPM-3V and Bohler M-390. I was going to offer Elmax but since this M-390 rolled in front of me at a reasonable price, I'm going with that.

Hi Guy,

Thank you for all of your updates. I am absolutely in for 2 GSO 4.1's, one in CPM-3V and the other in Bohler M-390. I know this doesn't count as an official order; I just wanted you to know you have my support.

Thank you kindly. :)

Mark

Holy cow, that EDC-4 looks perfect for my next hunting/camping knife! I can't afford one right now, or else I'd jump in on this. I hope you have some left over after Christmas.

Im assuming the M390 option will be $120 since it is replacing Elmax...correct?

Yes, the only difference being, the CPM-3V might also be $120 as well. The material itself was a little less expensive then Elmax but we are finding it is MUCH harder on abrasives, which is looking like it will eat the cost savings of the raw material. We are the first to really do much in a production environment with CPM-3V, on equipment like this. It makes it hard to exactly budget everything, until we get a few productions runs under our collective belt. If I open the store at a certain price though, that will be the price, regardless. I will stand by it, even if it costs a little more than I budget.

Guy, I'm in for two in the M-390! I figure those will make good all-around knives for the wife and I as we roam around and in camp, the 5.1 in 3V for heavier use, and maybe have to pick up a -10 in 3V to round it out :) (Still kinda want one in Elmax too..)

Great design, steel, and an amazing price. I won't mind a M390 hike. That is a winner for medium fixed blades. Glad I saw this thread.

What would be the official price for one in 3v? Just trying to figure out if i have the funds for one. At least this college kid will have fun when I get the 10 :D

You can get the one in 3V already. A shop in PA has them in stock according to their website. Contact me for the link.

For this preorder promotion, I am leaning toward a across the board starting price of $120 for a GSO-4.1 in either M390 OR CPM-3V. That would be for a knife in one of the basic handle materials and standard domestic ground shipping. The M-390/Elmax sheet stock generally costs me more but since we're finding the CPM-3V is more costly to machine in its hardened state, it's pretty much a wash. To help weigh the potential savings, the regular starting price of the GSO-4.1 will be $165, standard domestic shipping included. Sheaths and other options will also be available as an "at cost" upgrade.
