Two questions Guy, will we be able to get it without the jimping? And is the USA stamp gone now, because I really loved that big old "U.S.A." stamp on the previous version?

What is the best way to find out when the pre-order opens? (here, your newsletter or your website)

I definitely want to get two with Orange terotuf and don't want to miss out as the Elmax 5.1's semmed to have disappeared quick.

He said he would let people know at the same time all three ways: website, here and the mailing list. Just check both, tomorrow and Wednesday?

The "USA" stamp WILL be on the pommel. It's just hard for me to rotate text in my program and line it up perfectly. lol I might offer this model without jimping. I'm on the fence, simply because this jimping style seems to do exactly what I want jimping to do, without shredding my fingers. It is very comfortable.

When the store front for the preorder is open and ready, it will be announced on all of those outlets, probably by about Wednesday. I will leave the store open for one full week, to make sure everyone who is interested can get involved.

As long as the jimping is not too aggressive, I can deal with it. I'm fine either way, probably leaning more towards having one without. But it isn't a deal-break for me.

Thank you. I was worried you would only have a fixed number available, but it's great that you will keep the store open for a week.

Everyone is different with what they want. Personally, I am hoping you keep the jimping...

Ok Guys and Girls! Here is the SURVIVE! GSO-4.1. Man, I really nailed it with this revision. We are preparing the store front and the preorder should open in a day or two. I will update this post, as soon as everything is ready to go. Enjoy the images!

I don't know how I am going to afford following you, Guy, your revised designs are killer! I need a pay-raise...

Out of curiosity, have you filed a trademark or patent on that hidden-lanyard feature as well as your logo? It is a feature that I have not come across elsewhere, and establishing it as your property would help your business grow as other designers/manufacturers would pay for the right to utilize it!

I am glad to hear that "USA" will still be present, definitely a selling point for me , as well as the jimping on BOTH spine and pommel, another uncommon feature. Still a skeletonized tang?

Btw, I assume that the tapering sweep of your primary bevel-grind (it's not "asymmetric", wrong term) means that the bevel-angle is larger there (to give that robust point you tout ) - is the secondary bevel in the sweep also more robust or uniform along the entire edge for better initial penetration? Your answer won't alter my desire for one, but it's just added information for when I detail and recommend your knives to others ;)

Actually my logo trademarking has been in the works for a little bit, although I only more recently got my attorney looking into the lanyard hole idea and some other aspects of my designs. More and more, I am realizing the importance of protecting myself and my ideas.

Thanks Man. The USA stamp is indeed important to me as well. It's not going anywhere. Yep, the tang will still be skeletonized, for improved balance.

I coined it an "asymmetric grind" when I was first developing the idea. The reason being, the bevel angle not only changes through the grind but the bevel height also shrinks toward the tip, making it less than symmetric, when compared to a "symmetrically" ground bevel, with one set bevel angle. It might not be the perfectly correct term but we needed to call that grind something. Since the bevel was uneven in height from plunge to tip, we went with "asymmetric".

I mean, we park on driveways and drive on parkways but we keep calling them that. lol. It's just a term for reference, until SURVIVE! Saber Grind or S.S.G. takes hold. LOL To answer your other question, the cutting edge is even and uniform, from tip to choil.

Definitely get those trademarks in! Your designs are compelling if not unique and certainly deserve legal acknowledgement
Spyderco has their thumb-hole, Busse has their talon hole... your hidden lanyard hole is the first of its kind I've seen.
And thank you for the info on the cutting edge.

Speaking of Busse, here is a link referencing "asymmetric grind", also here - "An asymmetrical grind could be used to describe any grind that is not the same on both sides of the knife". Symmetry implies a point (or line) of reference across which a comparison is made. Having a sweep at all makes the primary grind asymmetrical. The term just doesn't apply here. But I'd be totally in favor of the SURVIVE! Saber Grind :D I'm not sure you could trademark it, but I've seen producers use "nightmare" and "ultra" to describe their grinds :)

In regard to park- & drive-ways (yes, I am a "word-freak"), the noun/suffix "way" implies travel/motion, the noun/prefix "park" implies an enclosure or pen (which implies prevention of motion) and more recently an undeveloped or nature-preserve of some kind, and the verb/prefix "drive" implies forced motion. By way of explanation, a "parkway" is a road next to a nature enclosure (a park); a "driveway" is a road leading to a specific location such as a garage or pen. NEITHER should have motionless vehicles on them as both are "ways" or roads. "Parking" on a driveway prevents its use as one (as does parking on a parkway), it becomes a park-lot or car-park or car-lot instead. ;) But here in the country, parking on the driveway would not only obstruct other vehicles but also leave quite some distance between your vehicle and my house ;)

Yeah you better hurry up Guy. I've gone on a sort of Bark River extravaganza this week...

Would it be possible to get additional sets of scales in a different color? Reason I ask is when hunting camping, the orange wold be ideal. Bit when using it on my load out gear, something more subdued like the brown would be best. Can't afford two separate knives, so additional scales wold solve the problem.

Sulaco do yourself a favor and skip BRKT and Mike Stewart. I have two of Guys knives, an EDC-4 in 3V and a GSO-5.1 in Elmax and you will not be disappointed in the product SURVIVE is putting out.

That might be something I would consider. I had not planned on doing that for some time yet but if I know ahead of time, that should not be a problem at all.

Okay, I only ordered two instead of three. So let's see the pre-order Guy! :D
