birtbagHey, people. I said I was done with this conversation, but I changed my mind so I could tell you all how it ended. No surprise, eBay sided with me and refunded my money. I sent the knife back to the seller using the label that eBay generated, but the seller e-mailed to tell me that the knife was sent to the wrong address and that he wasn't going to refund my money until he got his knife back. Well, first of all, that didn't matter, because eBay/Paypal refunded my money, not him. Second, whose fault is it that the address was wrong? Clearly his, because eBay doesn't set up your address in the system; the user sets up their own address. The seller again e-mailed me to ask if the knife had been returned to me. I told him it had not (because it had not). A week later, though, it showed up on my doorstep. The seller had been pretty nasty about the whole thing, while I had been reasonable, so I'm keeping the knife. Eff him. As for the marks on the blade, I spent a while buffing each side of the blade with a light grit belt, using my Ken Onion Worksharp. It's not perfect, but it's better; I didn't want to be really aggressive and wind up grinding off too much steel. At some point I'll send a few pictures to ZT to verify that the knife is authentic, though when they took a look at the pictures on the eBay listing, they said it appeared to be so.
I disagree. The OP should send the seller money, since he has already put the knife on a belt sander.Just read your last post. You got the knife; you got the refund. You tried to send it back but address was improper so it got back to you. So now, you're keeping both the money and the KNIFE? Does this sound like thievery to you?
Get his CORRECT address, and send him the knife. Be happy if he doesn't want to sue your butt in small claims court. You've screwed up MUCH worse that he did.
IMO. p.s. I will never deal with you. Your integrity appears to suck.
Yup. No matter how shady the seller or the item, once a buyer starts removing metal from a blade that blade is now the buyer's. The knife should have simply been returned. After it came back it should have been returned again. Paypal should have been instructing the buyer the whole time as he clearly is not capable of making the correct choices himself.I disagree. The OP should send the seller money, since he has already put the knife on a belt sander.
This crook was expecting high fives for his actions. He should be banned from the Exchange.
There is absolutely issues going on with him. There is this thread where he complains about the wrong knife the whole time:http://www.bladeforums.com/threads/the-problem-with-flippers-thumb-hot-spots.1495151/High maintenance buyers are obnoxious. Dealing with enough guys like Josh is why I would rather sell gear for more of a loss locally.
Agreed. The forum does not need members who are thieves. I doubt he'll be back to comment further anyway. No, he should be banned from the entire forum. This is not the type of action that standup members want in their community.

It really simple, if he got his money back, send back the product, no matter how nasty the seller was...

Congrats, you are clearly a class act. A model of integrity and honesty. I'm sure that a lot of people will be chomping at the bit to deal with you here on the exchange. Best of luck.
