That about sums up the pictures I have right now, at least in a few of the folders that I already have online. Sadly though, I won't be able to steal away for a night of herping from 3pm to 6 am and then going to classes the next day, anymore. Up in the mountains, I'll be playing with the plethora of salamanders and that shy little bog turtle, but after this summer, I am hoping to plan an out west road cruising trip with the snake crew. I seriously bought both my cars with snake hunting as the first motive, and have bumped up the lighting and the handling for road cruising at night. But there are just too many dang hobbies!

And the winner is.......JOE!!!
What, this wasn't a contest? Screw it, Joe wins anyway.

All three in that post are Northern Watersnakes (N. sipedon). They are harmless but very prone to biting ig picked up.

AND MUSKING! jEEEZ zowie can they stink up a car! Most Nerodia have anti-coagulants in their saliva, making you bleed quite profusely. The bite isn't bad at all unless you get a large one, or a particular specimen that likes to saw back and forth (they do that).

Md 25V - You seem very knowledgeable about snakes, is it a professional interest?

Yes, I'm a herpetologist in Maryland. I'm currently working with the M.A.R.A. (Md amphibian and reptile atlas) but I usually work for stipend projects while working on my master's.

Here's one from today. This Black Rat was rattling his tail in the leaves like a Timber. I love when they do that.

Joe, got any of those bog turtle pics? Those and spotted turtles are my favorites.
