Primble's Mystery GAW - Prizes Mailed

Thought I would add another shot of one of my favorite downtown parks in Austin. You can just make out the fountain that all the kids play in on hot days. Soon the whole skyline will change.

Not an entry but want to contribute if that's OK.

This is Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. Wilson's Creek was the first major Civil War battle fought west of the Mississippi River, and the scene of the death of Nathaniel Lyon, the first Union general killed in combat. The bloody Southern victory on August 10, 1861, focused greater national attention on the war in Missouri. This photo is of the Ray family home. Mr. & Mrs. Ray and children watched the battle unfold from this very deck before seeking shelter in the cellar under the home. After the battle, many wounded were brought here.

Walking the main trail at sunset tonight.

Favorite knife, boy that's a tough one. This GEC 42 is named after my home state and a favorite.

WOW Gevo - that is nice! and I think I see why the skyline will change soon - because of the cranes?

Two members in one day that are color blind.

I showed this as a possibility and zero responses!?

Let me know what you think.

GEC Northfield Whiteowl

I am not sure about letting go of this one, but, maybe I could be convinced.

That's a dandy. Just a lovely knife. Would make a fantastic 1st place or other wise.

I have been waiting for that big shiny gold thing in the sky to come out and that blue stuff-I think I remember it was called "the sky". The rain has been consistent and heavy with intermittent downpours that would make Noah get his tool kit out.Not the best conditions for photography. I drove down to Flagstaff Point in Wollongong to get a majestic panorama of the Port Kembla Bluescope Steelworks at full steam but I couldn't even see it:(
Not to worry- I've been out this morning in the "backyard" and snapped a couple of nice pics. Ominously I did spy two deer, two rabbits and two King parrots-thats two of each kind.
A couple of views from the front balcony,a big Port Jackson Fig ,the rock with a Turpentine tree (wood that won't burn unless seasoned for at least 10 years).

A few more pics before the riddling starts (because lets face it, I'm not going to guess any riddles first!).

My lovely wife and two boys on an early season paddle.

Here is another waterfall pic. The boys always love visiting this one.

Behind a different waterfall (Silver Falls in Washington)

Surely there is someone here that likes blue - err I mean teal knives. Charlie and I like blue houses. ;)

Fantastic selection of fantastic knives, whats not to like about any of those?

I've just spent the morning reading through this thread from where I left it. Work has been bonkers this week and desn't look like it will improve either. I have been sporadically posting via tapatalk on my phone but hadn't returned here until now. What a mistake. Things have certainly developed....

OK - ignoring the use of the word Kentucky, the clues have been quite direct;

horses bounding, horses and wagons, horses and hounds, numerous thoroughbreds, parks, old mills, foxes, lubrication (could be booze), three (could be sisters) and what is obviously the red white and blue of the Union Jack ( ;) ).

Primble - the mystery is a Bronte novel???!!!

LOL I think I speak for everyone when I say this has been great fun!

Paul :)

edit: and by the way, the prize should be whatever you pick. Don't let the ungrateful wee buggers choose the flipping thing!

Great idea Primble, I love to look through threads like this :)

Charlie's Radio Jack has barely been out of my pocket since it was gifted to me by my friend ScruffUK. Here it is last weekend, at one of my favourite spots, Whitby on the North Yorkshire Coast.

I have a full report coming up on my trip to Whitby, but here's a taster ;)

Whitby is a Yorkshire fishing port and seaside town, once the haunt of whalers and smugglers, now thronged with holiday-makers and day-trippers. On one side of the town lay the beautiful Yorkshire moors, on the other the cruel North Sea. In between, red-roofed cottages cling to crumbling cliffs, surmounted by an ancient church, and the ruins of an even older abbey, and the River Esk splits the town in two, finishing it's long journey, and flowing into the sea. At the river's gaping mouth, the twin wings of Whitby's harbour welcome trawler-men and lobster-potters home after their time at sea. Winding cobbled streets are lined with shops selling jewellery made from Whitby Jet, and with others selling all manner of antiques and curiosities, as well as locally-caught seafood and locally-smoked kippers. Of course, there are also characterful pubs aplenty. Across the bay, opposite the ancient church and abbey, stalked by Dracula in the eponymous tome by Bram Stoker, lay Whitby's big houses and hotels, the whale-bone arch, and a monument to one of Yorkshire's most famous sailors, Captain James Cook. If you ever get the chance to visit this corner of England, and fancy a trip to the coast, I can recommend no other English seaside town more highly than Whitby. It is much busier than it was when I first came here more than 30 years ago, but still full of interest and character, and pretty as a Yorkshire rose.

A little history of where I live.
Jackson, MI was founded in 1829 and named after President Andrew Jackson. Jackson is the birthplace of the Republican Party in 1854 and the Coney Island hot dog in 1914.
Before Detroit started building cars on assembly lines in 1910, Jackson was busy making parts for cars and putting them together. Over twenty different cars were made in Jackson.
