Primble's Mystery GAW - Prizes Mailed

I don't think I quite make the post count but I'd like to play too if that's okay?

Here in Perth Western Australia we've got two seasons: summer and the slightly cooler, slightly wetter summer. Most people love this, I, being a descendant of the abominable snowman, don't particularly, but I still love it here.

Where I live about 20k's South of the CBD, it's wetlands. I love taking a walk through the local bush land and have a look at all the wildlife:

Though some aren't happy to see me!

And of course, where would an Aussie be without our native mascot: the T-Rex deer.

My favourite knife is relatively new to me, but I love it all the same. I bought it on the exchange and she was a bit beat up, but a polish and a sharpen and she's sat in my pocket since.

Great GAW Primble! This forum has given me such happiness and satisfaction, knowing there are so many helpful and generous souls out there.

Union rebuilt and actually grew. Oddly, the dorms pictured above where about to be torn down and new ones built. The tornados did most of the work.

Very pretty shots Brett. You married a pretty gal and she puts up with your pocket knife addiction - I would say you did well. :p

How can you not love that shot !!:D

Linville caverns…a fun little getaway in the NC mountains. We also saw Tweetsie Railroad and Thomas.

and not so likely to forget Riley - my favorite gal.:)

Amazing photos of wonderful places
The first 3 photos are of my front and back yard in a small town near Tel-Aviv, called Ramat-Hashsaron, no special views here but a great place to live at.

The next 3 are from Haifa, a city by the sea where I grew up, it is also a center of an esoteric religion The Baha'i, who set their main temple there, there are not my photos. Part of the city is located on a Carmel mountain which ends down in the sea.

Thanks Primble for such interesting contest.

Thanks for the chance, I´m in :) Those mystery GAWs are always fun, indeed!

Well.... here in Germany we have a high tradition in cutlery in general.

This is a knife I was gifted by a great member here, Thom (aka scruffuk) - really loving this great great knife

The bavarian woods are a great place to spend time - here are some quick shots around christmas last year.... foggy and icecold :D

Thank you, I would agree.

There are some beautiful knives and places in this thread. It has certainly connected to my desire to see more of this world. And to be able to see a little glimpse of you all is great.

Well, I'm not a photographer, but I'll post.

My favorite knife, no surprise here. Never out of my pocket.

Landscapes, landscapes.....well how about some of the places I've lived.

Two summers ago a few miles from my house. Storm spawned about fifteen funnel clouds and two or three actual tornados. Quad funnel clouds here. Came about halfway to the ground then went back up. We were abut half a mile away. Pretty cool.

My son with my parents' land in the background. Standing about ten feet from where I spent a great deal of my childhood making "forts" replicated from an antiquated version of "Wildwood Wisdom."

Not much of a landscape, but I've made this walk many times, from the woods back to my parents. Usually just like my step son, rifle in hand and followed by a dog. The rifle was different and so was the dog, but the feeling is the same.

Local hiking spot. This was a wonderful day.

One of the worst places I ever lived, Bagram.

And one of the coolest, Mahbouhlah, Kuwait.

Thanks for this medicevans:thumbup: I know what it's like to spill your guts so to say---it's a good thing to do and you came to a great place to do it. I pray things turn back around for you brother--you certainly have my support in prayers;)

You certainly blessed me and others with a very neat and touching picture:thumbup:

I have many favorite knives but I would have to say my favorite because of sentimental reasons is the knife my then fiancé gave me for Christmas. It was the first knife she ever bought for me and the knife I carried on our wedding day. I have to add she made an excellent choice for not being a knife person. She knew I loved yellow knives and I prefer my knives to come from the U.S. or Germany. I'll try to update this picture tomorrow with a nicer one taken outside in natural lighting but it's a Boker Stockman 3.25" carbon blades.

I grew up in a town about 20 minutes from the coastal town of Bandon, OR and we would go there at least once a week to go to the beach. One of the beaches there in Bandon has a rock out in the water called face rock. Can you see why they call it that in this picture? :) Picture taken from Google search.

Another place not far from where I live now in North Bend, OR that I enjoy is Gold & Silver Falls a few miles up into the mountains from here. I also took this picture off of Google image search. Nice hiking trails at these falls and they are far enough out of the way that the tourists don't really go to them very often.

This is a picture I took a few years back at the dunes just a couple miles from where I live. That is what I love about living here, is all these pictures are just within minutes from where I live. You could literally go to the beach, sand dunes, hiking in the mountains and jet ski on a lake all in one day here or go up in the mountains and find snow depending on the time of year. Doesn't get too cold here and nobody has air conditioning around here as it rarely gets over 80 in the summer. :)

Thanks for all the contributions you have made since you found this place. I'm convinced the best people on the internet hang out right here in this sub forum. :)

This thread really is something Primble. Thanks for the generosity and all, but you really should keep this going even after a winner is picked or start a similar thread. I really feel like I've gotten to know everyone so much better from this thread. It's really neat to get a bit more personal with the fine folks whose knives we ogle all the time. Great pics everyone!

Paul, thanks for the kind words. It is just a road I'm going down. Lots of changes in my life to come. Going to be hard, but it will be better on the other end. I have to keep believing that. My kids are my rock right now. Living for them is keeping me sane.

That day of hiking was awesome, but then, I've never had a bad day in the woods. That picture was taken about halfway through the only 500 yards of several miles my daughter walked. The rest of the time......

Sitting

Even drinking (hurts to see the ring in that picture....God, it hurts!)

And eating.

Yep, she loves hiking, as long as she doesn't actually have to hike. I guess she loves to "carry." Haha.

Love this thread so far, and I'd be honoured to contribute.

About thé knife, that must be an Opinel for me. One of my modded ones... I can't get around this one. I've carried Opi's since I was a kid, during my time at the boy scouts, up until this day. No they're not the best in F&F or in steel choice, but they just do it for me.

The area I live in is shaped and dominated by one specific river. It's a pretty low elevation, and this river (the Nete) just flows gently through the environment with its own specific fauna and flora.
It's not that this is the most spectacular area I've ever seen, but I've spent days on this river's banks. Talking with friends, playing soccer or baseball, drinking beer, smoking a cigar with some scotch, walking next to it with my girlfriend, swimming in it, and so on and so on. It became a special and cherished place for me after all these years. This places has created so many memories. Here are a few pics...

Why can't I post in here dang it! I've been trying since yesterday & can't figure it out. I'm doing everything exactly the same as I have been for years. Can still post with picture links in other threads. I don't know what's going on but I guess it wasn't meant to be lol.

Jake

Maybe too many pics at once - maybe ??? Try posting just a few to start with and see if you can. If not, PM me and I will try to lend you a hand! ;)

The thread is going to run for a while - so you/we have time to figure it out.

I agree! I have been really enjoying this but have been refraining from posting because I'm pretty new to the forum. Keep up the post there are some great knives an lovely landscapes. Actually a few have made me miss my hometown. Displaced Austinite.

Not trying to change the direction of this beautiful thread, but if you are having trouble, try posting a smaller one first and then go to the edit and add the rest as an edit. It worked for me when it would not allow me to post an original one. Hope this helps. Now back to the original programming.

Medicevans - those are some priceless photos!

This is an interesting and entertaining thread but by the time it loads for those of us with dial-up (like I have in the shed/shop), it's enough to make me want to hang myself with a new rope!!

It is pretty slow loading, with all these pictures, on DSL !!
