Not trying to change the direction of this beautiful thread, but if you are having trouble, try posting a smaller one first and then go to the edit and add the rest as an edit. It worked for me when it would not allow me to post an original one. Hope this helps. Now back to the original programming.

Medicevans - those are some priceless photos!

This & your advice through pm worked!! Thank you so much I spent over 2 hours last night trying to figure it out lol. My post with pictures is back on page 4. :)

I recently began riding a bicycle for exercise and fun. I promise you, all of Kansas isn't flat. I'm pretty sure the hill west of my house is trying to kill me.

It's really hard for me to pick a favorite knife. I am fortunate to have several that I really like. This #56 jack seems to get picked more mornings than any other lately so I guess I will go with it.
This is a great thread and I have really enjoyed seeing everyone's pictures and reading all the comments. I wanted to post some pictures just to contribute and play along but I don't want to win. I want anyone to win but me and I wish you all luck.
Primble great idea for a giveaway. You the man!

WOW picture! I echo the comments on the children walking through the woods and I wish you a speedy recovery through the hard times and good fortune in your next phase of life.

One of the beaches there in Bandon has a rock out in the water called face rock. Can you see why they call it that in this picture? :) Picture taken from Google search.

Thank you Duncan - you can always enter as a "Not Entry" Duncan - I would be interested in one of your favorite knives and some pictures from "Paradise" !!! ;):)

I agree! I have been really enjoying this but have been refraining from posting because I'm pretty new to the forum. Keep up the post there are some great knives an lovely landscapes. Actually a few have made me miss my hometown. Displaced Austinite.

You can post your pictures, if you so wish, glassjaw - I see that your interests and most of your posts are traditionals and that you are new to the forum. Maybe I will have a consolation prize for newer members.

The object, at least for me, is not to keep the newer members out, but, to keep the modern enthusiasts from crossing over to pick up a free knife.

This is a wonderful idea Primble, I really enjoyed today's exploits. :)

I currently live in Rome Georgia. The city was founded in 1835, and named after Rome because of the the hills and rivers that wind throughout! You can also go and visit Berry College. . .you can see their old water wheel, walk around the trails, and take in the fresh air. It's one the largest campus in the world, and one of the most peaceful place in Rome.

In front of city hall there's a bronze sculpture of the Capitoline Wolf nursing Romulus & Remus, gifted to our city by Benito Mussolini in 1929. . .Beneath the sculpture is a plaque inscribed "This statue of the Capitoline Wolf, as a forecast of prosperity and glory, has been sent from Ancient Rome to New Rome during the consulship of Benito Mussolini in the year 1929.". An interesting bit of history!

Finally, within walking distance from my house is the Myrtle hill cemetery. It's older than anyone alive, and over 20,000 people are buried there, including Woodrow Wilson's wife, Ellen Wilson, along with over 300 soldiers from the civil war. It's a historic place. :)

Here's the view of old town from Myrtle hill.

These two grave stones caught my eye. :)

My backpack is in frame to exemplify the post modernistic detachment of-ok, so I didn't realize it was there until I was uploading the photos. . .:o

My favorite knife? The 2009 forum knife is it. Not my most treasured, but my favorite to carry. :)

Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to share, I've enjoyed this thread immensely!!

Have a wonderful night!

Awesome giveaway Primble!! Really great pics everyone! I love having a peek at the different places in the world we all live in.

I must say, seeing your pictures have motivated me to improve on my own photography. I haven't seen many pictures that can capture the beauty of a knife quite like yours can. It almost feels like I am really seeing the knife for the first time. Just beautiful my friend, keep it up!

Here are some pics of my favorite knife, which is also my favorite pattern (as you well know)

Great giveaway thread Prim -

Well big cities can often get a bad rap around here for their lack of nature. Luckily I live 2 blocks away from Brooklyn's Prospect Park, which is an amazing historical site and gives one a chance to retreat from the mean streets for a bit of respite.

On Sundays I like to walk along this "river" and sit in the shade.

Here's a good tree for climbing out over the water for a sort of Huckleberry moment

Had my Blood Wood Buckaroo with me, which has become my de facto favorite knife.

This Autumn Bone Pemberton pairs up nicely with the Buckaroo and seems to always find its way into my watch pocket

Wow, these are some super pics and it reminds me how much more living I have left to do!!!

I'll have to catch up with them in a few days.

I have a large collection of Schrade knives, when it comes to my best knife; it’s this old 881.
I have had it since 1973, and it has always been my every-day-user.

Ok, I just have to throw my hat into this one!

My favorite knife?!? Wow, that's a toughy. This question made me lie awake at night, pondering. I have so many favorites, and I certainly don't want to offend any of them. That being said, though, at the end of the day, there can be only ONE actual favorite. Here he is:

Now, I've been a life-long resident of Northeast Ohio. There's a lot here to love, but a couple of my preferred spots are along the shores of Lake Erie, like this one:

(My photo, taken July 7th on our annual trip to Headlands Beach State Park on our 7th wedding anniversary.)

We also have some wonderful parks in the area, such as the Cuyahoga Valley Gorge Metropark, featuring the beautiful rivers and rock overhangs that are frequently found in this area.

Here's the closest park to our home, Quail Hollow State Park. My wife and I got married here.

Heck, we here in NEO are even the home of the Goodyear Blimp! I took this photo while fishing at yet another park (Wingfoot State Park) this past Saturday.

Of course, at the end of the day, I really like the scenery in my own back yard the best.

Thanks for the opportunity, Primble!

PHASE II: Not just a mystery give away, but, also a Can you solve a Mystery give away?

Well - I said this was a mystery GAW - could this be it - the mystery knife - or maybe the runner up - or the show knife in a horse race ?? - or possibly a tease?? or maybe it is just a clue ??

Today - the REAL mystery gets started - there will be more clues, pictures, possibilities, and possibly teases - everyone knows Primble loves to tease!! :D

and the clue for today is: three

NYKCHammer21_zpsabe57eed.jpg~original

You lurkers better get your entry in - Brett's mystery GAW proved to me that mystery GAW's are the best - and I forgot to enter !!

BUT - unlike Brett's mystery GAW - this one may require the real solving of a mystery and the best outdoor picture - or not !! :D

Do not forget - if you don't like your entry - you can just post another!! ;)

and remember - no excuses on the outdoor pic - you can use the power of google or search !!!

It might pay off for those of you who pay attention. There may be hidden clues in my responses throughout the pages.
Maybe something extra ! Maybe the clues will answer a question!

There are a number of us from Austin, TX, but no one has mentioned the bats!

Congress-Avenue-Bridge_bats_Austin.jpg

picture from web search

Austin is home to the largest urban bat colony in the world. in the summer, they roost under the Congress Avenue bridge. Every night at sundown, they fly out to hunt flying insects. In the 1980's, when hotels were being built along the banks of Town Lake, there were plans to exterminate them. Bat Conservation groups did a wonderful job of educating the public about the beneficial role bats play in the ecosystem. (anything that eats its weight in mosquitoes each night is A-OK by me) They have become a sort of mascot to the city, and now those same hotels advertise "Come see the bats from our deck Happy Hour"
