Problem with a Trade

I can't help but answer you Jill. With all due respect, are you related to Ashley? You took a side. The other one might be; Ya John I understand, you entered this trade in good faith, voiced concern about the knife, was told it was the camera. You got it voice another concern and was told "it isn't that bad", it was, you said you would send it back and for that you were called a rip-off. Then though a slip of her tongue you found she paid $45.00 not $65.00. Ya, John I'd be mad too and I think you're right to send her the $45.00, thats what I would do too. Jill, thats the other side, MINE.

I never took a side, I gave my opinion. She sent you a knife, you felt it wasn't up to what she represented it to be.
You had words with her. Now you don't want to return her knife because of it. You said you would pay her the 45 dollars you think she paid for it. By the end of the month.
Now you say you will pay it in a installment plan? Good for you John you are a grown man and you are really showing this girl who is boss. You can't just step up send it back and not have anymore contact with her. You have to keep it and punish her by paying her a tiny amount over 5 months.
I don't really care what you and her do about this. My opinion was to send it back to her and not have anymore to do with her. That's reasonable to me and if you don't like my opinion then don't listen to me. Pay her the 9.80 a month and feel like you are teaching her a lesson.

I do not know why Bud is sore at Jill. I think the whole thing would have deflated if no quid pro quo occurred, i.e. a this for that. Send the this and the that back, the check and the knife, and eat the shipping fees whoever paid for them. To err is human, to forgive divine. Jill took no sides, she owes no explanation. She is not out of line, only the two traders are under scrutiny.

AFTER ALL THIS BEING SAID AND ALL THE WEIRD, DISHONEST B.S. DRAMA AND INSULTS I'VE HAD TO ENDURE WITH YOUR OBSESSION AND SELFISHNESS OVER THIS KERSHAW KNIFE, YOU NOW OWN IT! YOU HAVE UNTIL FRIDAY THE 23RD TO HAVE THE MONEY ORDER IN MY HAND OR BOTH KNIVES WILL OFFERED IN MY SALE ON THE 24TH. THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE!

The reality of this situation after our phone conversation today

After listening to our recent phone conversation again and getting some very sound advice it is crystal clear that you are unable to consider anyone but yourself, therefore the possibility of apologies is something you are not capable of. You just had a chance with your own voice to do so but didn't, so be it.
There is a price to pay for dishonesty, disrespect and selfish contempt, you are guilty of all three towards me. Considering this, the reality aspect is simple and has three levels. Level one: I have the knife and I will not return it as a matter of principle which I have explained to you in detail. Level two: I offered to pay $45.00 for it and you accepted. After careful consideration I will also pay the $3.00 it cost to ship it, a total of $48.00. I will pay this amount. Level three: I have to weigh the facts regarding how the dishonest, disrespectful, and contemptuous way I've been treated by you has caused me to suffer and how to come to terms with it. As not to suffer any more stress and hardship over this situation and still pay you the above amount I will mail you a check by the 4th of every month in the amount of $9.60 for 5 consecutive months. The payments will begin June 2009.
Please don't call or e-mail me any more regarding this matter. This is a done deal! As for bladeforum, say what you want. I've asked my real life friend who provides great advice and defense to stay off the site and say nothing else on my behalf.

bold by me. That is theft. You also used the post office to commit theft which is possibly a federal crime.

This trade did not occur on bladeforums but for some reason was aired here. It is clearly a trade that went extremely bad. John and Ashley, both of your behaviors are childish at best, but John, the fact of the matter still stands, you have a knife that she sent you which you have neither paid for or sent her the agreed knife in trade. This constitutes theft.

Send her her knife back. Send her the ASKING PRICE of the knife or send her the Kershaw which you agreed upon. Those are the only options you have. If you keep the stiletto without sending compensation (the Kershaw, or the agreed upon price) then you are a thief, plain and simple, and the one thing bladeforums members do not tolerate (and there are a LOT of bladeforums members, many who are EXTREMELY well known and respected in the knife community) it is a thief. Do the right thing man.

Edited to add: Jill Jackson is one of those valued and knowledgable members of bladeforums. She isn't taking sides and the chances of her knowing Ashley are slim to none. She is, as I am, offering advice on how to make this situation right. The smart-ass
Jill if I was a female would you be on my side? Sorry had to ask.
comments that impugn her credibility are uncalled for.

ETA again: You offered to pay her in an installment plan??? Honestly? You really like twisting the knife, don't you? How hard is it to send her her knife back? I don't know what world you live in but in this world you don't get to keep her knife, send her ten bucks a month, or whatever other cockamamey plan you come up with just to punish her for a trade gone bad.

She brought this to this site. Where does it say she's not gonna get the $45.00? She was told this before she brought this here. Jill put in her 10 cents she got some change. It's kinda funny to listen to this. If what happened to me happened to you by someone you thought was your friend how would you respond. Would you just let them off the hook? I didn't ask for any of this. Extortion? Give me a break! Since she tried to con me out of the Kershaw I told her she can buy it and she'll get it and the stiletto. Have you ever trusted someone and been stabbed in the back? Did you thank them? Armchair quarterbacks. She's lucky she's getting anything. How about, what goes around comes around. Would this be your mindset if you were in my shoes?

I will not read or respond to anymore of this obscure wisdom

by returning the knife, paying her for it in full in one payment, or sending her the kershaw. Status Quo when trading knives on bladeforums.
Would you just let them off the hook?
no. I would send the knife back, pay her her asking price for it in full in one payment, or send her the kershaw

You also said that if she didn't pay you by a certain date you would sell your kershaw and her stiletto. Extortion. Telling her that IF she buys YOUR knife, she gets HER knife back is extortion. You are FORCING her to buy your knife in order to get her knife back.
Have you ever trusted someone and been stabbed in the back? Did you thank them? Armchair quarterbacks. She's lucky she's getting anything.
no, she is not. Your trade went south, she gets A. her knife back, B. the asking price for the knife, or C. the kershaw you originally agreed to trade her.
How about, what goes around comes around.
How about, not in the real world?
Would this be your mindset if you were in my shoes?
no

Then send her her knife back, pay her for the knife, or send her her kershaw post haste and end it.

So you get to do with her knife, as you please because she wanted to trade?
You had to give her an address to ship it to. I for one would never trade with somebody that held my knife until they received mine. I'm not entirely sure but I believe from reading over this she was under the impression you was going to ship the knife when she did.
I doubt you intend to pay anything for the knife. You have changed the story on what you'd do twice now and next you will justify not sending her anything, because you was so stressed and insulted by the ordeal.
You didn't give me anything back, John or Bud, you just can't seem to be able to handle anyone not being in agreement with what you come up with as punishment, for someone you feel has wronged you.

Must we use size 104 font when we post? I don't think any of us have eyesight that bad. If this is just about $45.00 not being paid, I'm sure that a few of us can all chip in pay it. Anything for the saga to end....

I'd pay $10 just to get this thread locked... Esav, Glockman would either of you take a Kershaw to lock it?

Pete, I like you. You make sense, this thread however doesn't.

I have absolutely no idea what to make of this whole affair. Hopefully it will come to end soon.

Not only have I no idea, I cannot have any idea what's going on here, since I will never read through posts so undisciplined, emotional, unfocused, and antagonistic.

Walls of text! Reading and writing have to do with more than just learning the alphabet! Communication! It isn't just screaming demands at each other!

None of these people are integral to Bladeforums and none of them stand much chance of ever being taken seriously around here.

Is there a stand up out of my seat and applause emoticon? I think the two opposing sides deserve each other.

+1 to both of the above......

This "saga" is about the biggest load of 'crap' I have ever read on here. It is worse than what might take place on a elementary school playground.

It would indeed make an excellent 'Springer' episode.:thumbup:

Do the three of you realize how idiotic you sound???

It's a shame that a link to this thread can't be attached to both of their forum names, to act as a warning to anyone who would think of dealing with either of them in the future. Somebody, some time, is going to have to go through a similar deal with one of them, because not everyone will see this debacle. :barf:

Having keps some sort of track of what going on (as best as one can with this )

The knife should just be sent back, end of story.

While "knife Crazed" seems a bit off the hook here at least she is posting her self and not getting her "friend" to post for her.

This whole thing is beyond pathetic, just send her knife back and move on.

Amazing, isn't it? We have people here who routinely buy and sell truly valuable and expensive gear. Rarely is there a problem and even when disputes come to FEEDBACK/GBU, they are often resolved with both parties apologizing for the misunderstanding.

One wonders if it's the knife or the need for attention that drives a thread like this.

no kidding, it reminds me of the clint eastwood movie "unforgiven" in which no one is the "good guy", i wouldnt ever deal with either one FWIW, all this is over a $45 knife? i must be lost lol..............

If somebody gave me a hard time about a deal, I'd sure want to undo the deal and be out of it as fast as possible. I wouldn't want anything from them, not their money or knife. If I had a knife they wanted and didn't want to trade it, I'd not tell them to ship me one in trade and then say, you bugged me so over it now you have to buy it before you get your knife back. Then say you only paid 45, I found you out, you are a con! I'll only give you the 45 now! Then say I'm going to give you 9.80 a month, because I can.
It seems he is enjoying being a big of a jerk as possible over this. Anyone with any sense of fairness and honesty at all would just return the damn knife and not have anymore contact with the party. I haven't seen anything as remotely childish as this entire blown out of proportion crock of crap on BladeForums before!

That depends on which Kershaw you're talking about. Send one to me, and I'll think about it.:D.:D.
